Movable Screen Toilet

Admin September 24, 2026

In movable toilets, screen-related designs mainly enhance the user experience through electronic ink screens, with the core function of displaying the occupancy status of toilet stalls and estimated waiting times. The following provides an introduction from three aspects: technical principles, functional features, and application scenarios.

Technical Principles

Electronic ink screens (E-Ink) are based on electrophorettic display technology. They contain numerous microcapsules inside, with each microcapsule housing positively charged white particles and negatively charged black particles. By applying different electric fields, these particles move to the surface of the screen or hide inside, forming black-and-white images. This technology is characterized by low power consumption because the screen does not require continuous power to maintain the displayed image after content is shown; it only consumes power when the content is updated. In the application of movable toilets, the data on the electronic ink screen is updated every 30 seconds, and the screen's power consumption is solely for maintaining digital refreshes, resulting in extremely low overall energy consumption. This makes it suitable for long-term operation without the need for frequent battery replacements or power connections.

Functional Features

  1. Real-time Information Display: Electronic ink screens can display the occupancy status of toilet stalls (such as "in use" or "available") and estimated waiting times in real time. This information is collected by sensors and transmitted to the screen, helping users quickly understand the usage situation of the toilets and avoid blind queuing.
  2. Low Power Consumption and Long Battery Life: Since electronic ink screens only consume power when the content is updated, their power consumption is much lower than that of traditional liquid crystal screens. In the application of movable toilets, this feature allows the screen to operate for long periods without frequent maintenance, making it particularly suitable for outdoor or remote usage scenarios.
  3. High Readability: Electronic ink screens remain clearly visible under strong light. Their reflective display technology does not rely on backlighting, reducing eye strain and improving the accuracy of information reading.

Application Scenarios

The electronic ink screen design for movable toilets is widely applied in large-scale events, scenic spots, transportation hubs, and other crowded places. For example, at music festivals or sports events, electronic ink screens can help spectators quickly find available toilet stalls, reducing queuing times. At scenic spots or transportation hubs, the screens can guide tourists to distribute reasonably, improving overall usage efficiency. Additionally, this design is also suitable for temporarily constructed toilet facilities, such as those used in post-disaster relief or construction sites, providing convenient information services for users.
