Movable Public Toilet

Admin September 20, 2026

A movable public toilet is a facility that can be moved as a whole and provides toilet services to the public. It is suitable for various locations and comes in multiple types with distinct features.

Suitable Locations

Movable public toilets are suitable for stations, docks, tourist attractions, villa areas, newly built residential communities, large construction sites, squares, densely populated public places, and bustling commercial streets. These locations often have characteristics such as high pedestrian traffic and a temporary need for toilet facilities, which movable public toilets can effectively meet. For example, at large outdoor event venues, movable public toilets can be quickly deployed to provide convenient toilet conditions for participants.

Composition and Structure

They are generally composed of fecal sewage storage tanks (or fecal sewage treatment devices), floor slabs, sanitary ware, walls, washing equipment, water tanks, roofs, and mobile devices. These components work together to ensure the normal operation of movable public toilets. Among them, the fecal sewage storage tank is used to collect and store fecal sewage, while the sanitary ware provides basic toilet facilities.

Development History and Types

Initially made from materials like wood, with simple structures and functions that easily absorbed odors, they gradually evolved to use materials such as fiberglass and polyethylene. According to structural form, they can be divided into single-structure mobile toilets and composite-structure mobile toilets; according to mobility, they can be classified as hoisting and handling mobile toilets, powered and towed mobile toilets; and according to sewage treatment methods, they can be categorized as water-flush and non-water-flush suction mobile toilets, circulating water-flush mobile toilets, and dry-packing mobile toilets. Different types of movable public toilets are suitable for different scenarios and needs.

Features and Functions

They can be conveniently transported to any location where toilet facilities are needed and can be used repeatedly, offering advantages such as mobility, modularity, and ease of transportation. They originated from the temporary and periodic need for toilets in specific situations. Due to the shortage and unreasonable layout of urban public toilets, the government has deployed mobile toilets in areas where building fixed public toilets is relatively difficult to compensate for the insufficient supply and unreasonable layout of public toilets. For example, in 2023, mobile toilets were gradually installed and put into use in the scenic area along the Yellow River in Lanzhou, providing convenience for tourists. Additionally, there are towed and towed mobile environmental protection smart toilets that can be moved around anytime and anywhere, further enhancing their flexibility in use.
