Moisture-Proof Prefabricated Panels for Houses
The core principle of using prefabricated panels for moisture-proofing in houses is to 'exchange space for dryness' by reserving a cavity between the foundation and the first-floor ground to block the upward path of moisture, achieving a moisture-proof effect. The specific principles and construction points are as follows:

Moisture-Proof Principle
Underground moisture primarily migrates upward through capillary action or water vapor diffusion. When traditional floors directly contact backfill soil, moisture can directly penetrate indoors, causing ground dampness and mildew. The prefabricated panel moisture-proof structure forms a physical barrier by reserving a 30-50 cm cavity: when underground moisture rises to the cavity, due to the expanded space and enhanced air circulation, water vapor quickly diffuses into the air and cannot continue to penetrate upward to the first-floor ground. Meanwhile, the presence of the cavity reduces direct heat conduction between the ground and the damp soil layer, minimizing condensation on the ground caused by temperature differences and further enhancing the moisture-proof effect.
Construction Points
Ground Beam Pouring and Backfill Soil Control
As the connecting structure between the foundation and the ground, the ground beam must be poured according to design specifications and reach the required strength before backfilling can commence. The height of the backfill soil must be strictly controlled at 30-50 cm from the ground level to avoid the cavity becoming ineffective if too high or affecting structural stability if too low. The backfill material should be well-permeable sand or gravel; materials with high water content such as silt or humus soil are prohibited to reduce moisture sources.Backfill Soil Compaction
The backfill soil should be compacted in layers (each layer not exceeding 30 cm in thickness) to ensure the soil density meets design requirements (usually with a compaction coefficient ≥ 0.94). Compaction reduces soil porosity, decreases capillary action intensity, and enhances foundation bearing capacity, preventing cavity deformation or prefabricated panel cracking due to settlement.Prefabricated Panel Installation and Sealing
When installing prefabricated panels above the cavity, ensure that the gaps between panels are filled with waterproof mortar or sealant to prevent moisture penetration through the joints. If the cavity is to be used as a ventilation layer, ventilation holes can be reserved on the prefabricated panels or ventilation pipes can be installed to promote air circulation and accelerate moisture removal.
Applicable Scenarios and Precautions
This moisture-proof method is suitable for areas with low groundwater levels and moderate soil moisture. If the groundwater level is high or the soil moisture content is consistently saturated, other moisture-proof measures (such as adding waterproof membranes or installing drainage blind ditches) should be combined. Additionally, the cavity should not be filled with debris or sealed to avoid obstructing air circulation and reducing the moisture-proof effect.
