Mobile Waterless Toilet
A mobile waterless toilet is an environmentally friendly toilet that can handle waste without traditional water flushing, suitable for places without water supply and drainage systems, featuring mobility and diverse treatment methods.

Mobile waterless toilets replace the water-flushing function with physical, biological, or chemical technologies, with the core principle of reducing or eliminating dependence on water resources. For example, dry-packing toilets collect feces in biodegradable plastic bags for direct sealed disposal; biological degradation toilets use microorganisms to break down organic matter into harmless substances; and circulating water-flushing toilets achieve water resource recycling through filtration and disinfection technologies. These technologies all comply with the GB/T18092 - 2000 'Waterless Sanitary Toilets' standard, which has been implemented since October 1, 2000, regulating their design, production, and usage requirements.
According to the wastewater treatment method, mobile waterless toilets can be divided into three categories:
- Water-flushing and waterless suction type: Combines a small amount of water flushing with vacuum suction technology, suitable for scenarios with high hygiene requirements, but requires regular cleaning of the fecal storage tank.
- Circulating water-flushing type: Purifies wastewater through multi-stage filtration and disinfection devices to achieve water reuse, commonly found in water-scarce areas or temporary large-scale events.
- Dry-packing type: Requires no water at all, with feces sealed in biodegradable bags for subsequent centralized treatment, suitable for remote areas or emergency scenarios.
Its structure typically includes modules such as a fecal wastewater storage tank, sanitary fixtures, walls, roofs, and mobile devices. The design of factory-prefabricated finished products makes installation convenient and allows for rapid deployment in tourist attractions, parks, construction sites, etc. For example, during the May Day holiday in 2026, the Jinci Scenic Area in Shanxi Province allocated buses as mobile men's toilets and temporarily converted fixed men's toilets into women's toilets, increasing the average daily reception capacity by about 67%, demonstrating their flexibility and practicality.
The advantages of mobile waterless toilets are significant: Mobility reduces resource waste from the demolition of fixed facilities; diverse treatment methods allow for technology selection based on environmental constraints; small footprint saves land resources compared to traditional toilets; and exterior design balances practicality and aesthetics, enhancing the quality of public spaces. These characteristics make them an important supplement to modern urban and rural sanitation facilities.
