Mobile Tourism Toilet Standard

Admin September 21, 2026

Currently, there is no separate and explicit standard for mobile tourism toilets. Relevant standards can refer to the national standard 'Quality Requirements and Assessment of Tourism Toilets' (GB/T 18973 - 2022). The following is an introduction from two aspects: standard requirements and practical management.

Standard Requirements

  • Planning and Layout: This standard sets requirements for the planning and layout of tourism toilets. As a form of tourism toilet, mobile tourism toilets should also follow the principles of rationality and convenience during planning and layout. Factors such as their service targets and usage scenarios should be fully considered to ensure they can meet the usage needs of tourists. For example, in densely populated areas such as tourist attractions and large-scale event venues, the layout of mobile tourism toilets should facilitate quick access and use by tourists.
  • Number of Toilet Cubicles and Gender Ratio: It clarifies the number of toilet cubicles that should be equipped in tourism venues of different scales and types, as well as the reasonable ratio of male to female toilet cubicles. Mobile tourism toilets also need to scientifically set the number of toilet cubicles and the gender ratio according to the expected number of users and the gender ratio of tourists to avoid long queuing times.
  • Barrier-Free Toilet Cubicles and Family Restroom Construction: It emphasizes the importance of constructing barrier-free toilet cubicles and family restrooms. Mobile tourism toilets should also comply with standard requirements to provide convenient toilet conditions for disabled individuals and families with special needs, demonstrating humanistic care.
  • Design Aesthetics and Cultural Connotations: It requires tourism toilets to focus on aesthetics in design while reflecting local cultural connotations. Mobile tourism toilets are no exception. Their exterior design can be coordinated with the surrounding environment and incorporate local cultural elements to enhance the usage experience of tourists.
  • Technological Applications: It encourages the application of advanced technologies in tourism toilets, such as intelligent water-saving equipment and ventilation and air exchange technologies. Mobile tourism toilets can also adopt these technologies to improve usage comfort and environmental protection.

Practical Management

Mobile toilets may lead to resource idleness due to management issues during actual use. For example, if temporarily installed mobile toilets are not labeled with their temporary nature, they may remain locked for a long time, raising doubts among the public. Therefore, the installation and management of temporary convenience facilities should focus on information disclosure, clarifying information such as the usage nature and time of mobile toilets to avoid resource idleness and improve their usage efficiency.
