Usage of Mobile Toilets in Scenic Areas

Admin October 13, 2026

There are mainly two forms of mobile toilet usage in scenic areas: integrated mobile setups and the innovative application of 'tide toilets'.

Integrated Mobile Setups

Mobile toilets can be moved as a whole and can be placed at corresponding locations to provide toilet services to the public and customers according to the fixed or temporary needs of scenic areas. Some enterprises can tailor-make mobile toilets according to the requirements of scenic areas. For example, Dezhou Hongtu Metal Products Co., Ltd.'s Apple Pod toilets have various customization cases. There is a pink Apple Pod-shaped toilet customized for a strawberry base, meeting the specific scenic area's characteristic needs; there is also an Apple Pod-shaped toilet customized for Mr. Wang in Zhejiang, which is equipped with eight independent squatting positions, rainproof facilities in front, and public washbasins, fully considering the convenience and comfort of users. This type of mobile toilet with an integrated mobile setup can flexibly adapt to the toilet needs of different areas and different periods in scenic areas. Whether it is a newly built scenic area, a temporary event venue, or an area with a large flow of people during the tourist peak season, it can be quickly deployed to effectively solve the toilet problem.

Innovative Application of 'Tide Toilets'

The 'tide toilet' is an innovative form of mobile toilet application in scenic areas. Taking Guangdong Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area as an example, to address the long queues of women waiting for toilets during major holidays, the scenic area introduced the 'tide toilet'. By setting up several 'gender-neutral toilets' and using movable signs or lockable sliding doors, the usage rights are dynamically adjusted according to real-time pedestrian flow. After being put into use, the waiting time for women to use the toilet during peak hours has been shortened from more than 30 minutes to less than 10 minutes, greatly improving toilet efficiency. However, the 'tide toilets' in this scenic area have also sparked some controversies. Due to the low threshold for easily moving and altering the signs at the entrance, it is easy to cause confusion between male and female toilet areas and privacy leaks. Later, the sliding signs were removed and replaced with fixed slot-type signs. In addition, some parks and scenic areas in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Hangzhou, Wuhan, and Chongqing have also successively trialed the 'tide toilets'. This innovative application form provides new ideas and directions for scenic areas to solve the toilet problem.
