Mobile Toilets in Fangcang
Mobile toilets in fangcang are emergency sanitation units that integrate rapid deployment, hygiene and safety, and environmentally friendly disposal functions, aiming to provide basic sanitation services for excretion, cleaning, and sewage disposal within limited space and a short period of time.

Core Design Objectives and Functions
The core design objectives of mobile toilets in fangcang are to address challenges such as odor control, sewage collection, and pathogen isolation in confined spaces. Their typical structures include metal or high-strength plastic box frames, removable partitions, water storage tanks, flushing systems (electric or foot-operated), and sewage pipe interfaces. To reduce the risk of cross-infection, many toilets are equipped with ventilation fans and ultraviolet disinfection lamps, which kill pathogens in the air and on surfaces through continuous ventilation and ultraviolet irradiation.
Usage Scenarios and Classifications
Mobile toilets in fangcang are classified into three types based on usage scenarios:
- Integrated Modular Restrooms: Used in large fangcang hospitals, these restrooms feature male and female toilet stalls as well as accessible stalls, equipped with independent handwashing stations and ventilation ducts. They can be transported as a whole through hoisting, meeting the needs of long-term, high-density usage.
- Mobile Trailer-mounted Restrooms: Suitable for post-disaster resettlement sites or wilderness campsites, these restrooms have wheeled chassis and can be towed by vehicles. Although their internal space is compact, they have complete power supply, water supply, and sewage disposal systems, making them suitable for flexible deployment.
- Simple Assembled Restrooms: Used for short-term emergency needs, these restrooms are quickly assembled from lightweight partitions. Generally, they do not have flushing functions and use packing bags or biodegradable methods to dispose of excreta. They are low-cost and can be deployed rapidly.
Sewage Disposal and Disinfection Systems
The sewage disposal system adopts vacuum negative pressure collection technology to instantly suck excreta into a closed storage tank, reducing aerosol generation; or uses a chemical reagent treatment system to disinfect in situ by adding chlorine-containing disinfectants or microbial degradation agents to the storage tank. High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are installed on the top exhaust ducts to prevent virus particles from escaping. The disinfection system combines ultraviolet lamps and regular surface disinfection (every 4 hours, using chlorine-containing wipes) to ensure environmental safety.
Ergonomics and Privacy Protection
The internal space of each toilet stall is no less than 1.2 meters by 1.2 meters. The door locks are designed to prevent accidental triggering and are equipped with emergency call buttons. The lighting uses explosion-proof LED lamps, and the floor is laid with anti-slip and corrosion-resistant materials. For special populations, some toilets are equipped with handrails, lowered handwashing station heights, and widened door openings to enhance usability.
Maintenance and Management
Daily maintenance is crucial for ensuring functionality. Surface disinfection is carried out every 4 hours, and the sewage storage tank is emptied and the disinfectant is replaced daily. In high-density scenarios such as fangcang hospitals, cleaning staff need to wear full protective gear and implement a "one-toilet-one-disinfection" system, which means disinfecting key areas such as toilet seats and door handles immediately after each use. The ventilation system should operate 24 hours a day to ensure air circulation.
