What is a Mobile Toilet

Admin September 21, 2026

A mobile toilet is a facility that can be moved as a whole and provides toilet services to the public and customers. Some waterless flushing sanitary toilets are also referred to as mobile toilets. The following is an introduction based on different types and characteristics:

Overall Mobility

Mobile toilets have the characteristic of being movable as a whole. They can be placed at locations or venues with fixed or temporary needs. For example, at large-scale outdoor event sites such as music festivals and marathon races, due to the high density of people at the event site and the possible lack of fixed public toilet facilities in the surrounding area, mobile toilets can be quickly transported and installed in appropriate positions to meet the toilet needs of a large number of people. At construction sites, as the project progresses and the construction area changes continuously, mobile toilets can be flexibly moved according to the construction schedule to provide convenient toilet conditions for workers.

Waterless Flushing Type (Eco-friendly Mobile Toilets)

Waterless flushing sanitary toilets are commonly known as eco-friendly toilets, ecological toilets, or mobile toilets in China, and the international generic term is non-sewered sanitary toilets. This type of mobile toilet can achieve waste treatment without traditional water flushing and is an eco-friendly toilet. It replaces the water flushing function through physical, biological, or chemical technologies. For example, using physical methods, special collection devices are used to separately collect feces and urine and then seal them to prevent odor emission. Biological technology utilizes microorganisms to decompose and transform feces into harmless substances. Chemical technology involves adding specific chemical agents to disinfect, deodorize, and solidify feces.

Wide Range of Application Scenarios

Due to their mobility and eco-friendly features, mobile toilets have a wide range of application scenarios. In addition to the large-scale events and construction sites mentioned above, in some tourist attractions, especially natural scenic spots, in order to protect the environment and reduce pollution to natural water resources, mobile toilets are widely used. In remote areas or temporary resettlement sites, due to the lack of a well-developed sewer system, mobile toilets also play an important role in providing basic toilet services for local residents and temporary personnel.
