Water Bucket Placement for Mobile Toilets

Admin September 23, 2026

The plan for placing water buckets in mobile toilets should be selected based on the specific toilet type, with common plans as follows:

I. Three-Compartment Toilets with Matching Septic Tanks and Flush Buckets

The three-compartment toilets in Yangquan, Shanxi, use a 1.5-cubic-meter injection-molded three-compartment septic tank. Its structure has specific requirements for pipeline connections:

  • Inlet for fecal pipes: It should be reserved on the wall of the first compartment to connect to the fecal discharge pipe of the toilet.
  • Design of fecal transfer pipes: It should meet fermentation requirements. The inlet of the fecal transfer pipe from the first to the second compartment should be located at the lower 1/3 of the wall of the first compartment, and the inlet from the second to the third compartment should be at the lower 1/3 to 1/2 of the wall of the second compartment.
The flush buckets for such toilets are usually separated from the septic tank and need to be connected via pipelines to achieve flushing functionality. However, the reference information does not specify their exact capacity or material, so containers that are corrosion-resistant and have good sealing properties should be selected based on actual water consumption.

II. Water Storage Bucket Design for Portable Restrooms

If an independent mobile toilet is required, the following water storage bucket modification plan can be referred to:

  • Material and capacity: Choose a food-grade PE material water storage bucket with a recommended capacity of 100 liters, balancing portability and water storage capacity.
  • Structural modifications:
    1. Install universal wheels at the bottom: Choose a model with brakes and a load-bearing capacity of ≥50 kg to ensure mobility stability.
    2. Drill holes in the bucket body:
      • Drill two holes on the side, one to connect to an outlet pipe (install a 2-分管 and a small faucet for flushing or simple washing).
      • Install an overflow pipe in the other to prevent water overflow.
    3. Supporting facilities: A foldable toilet (choose a model with degradable plastic bags for easy cleaning) can be placed on the bucket, and a small sink can be placed beside it, with water supplied through the outlet pipe of the water storage bucket.

III. Key Precautions

  • Sealing: The water storage bucket must ensure no leakage to avoid environmental pollution.
  • Anti-slip and load-bearing: The universal wheels should be inspected regularly to prevent tipping due to insufficient load-bearing capacity.
  • Septic tank maintenance: The third compartment of the three-compartment toilet should be cleaned regularly to avoid clogging the fecal transfer pipes.
  • Material safety: The food-grade PE bucket must comply with drinking water contact standards to prevent the release of harmful substances.

The above plans can be adjusted according to actual needs, such as increasing the capacity of the water storage bucket or optimizing pipeline layout, but they must comply with hygiene and safety regulations.
