Warmth Measures for Mobile Toilets

Admin September 24, 2026

Warmth measures for mobile toilets mainly include sealing inspections, internal heating, basic insulation, pipe freeze protection, and other auxiliary measures, as detailed below:

Sealing Inspections

Ensuring good sealing of doors and windows is a fundamental measure. Air leaks can be sealed with draft stoppers or thick curtains to reduce cold air infiltration. It is recommended to use EPDM rubber for door and window seals due to its strong weather resistance and long-lasting sealing effect; ventilation openings can be upgraded to temperature-controlled louver devices that automatically adjust their opening angles based on indoor and outdoor temperature differences to minimize heat loss.

Internal Heating

  • Low-power warm air blowers: Prefer models below 500W, which should be fixedly installed and kept away from flammable materials, with daily checks on circuit safety. In extremely cold northern regions, explosion-proof electric heaters can be used, with surface temperatures controlled below 60℃ to avoid burn risks.
  • Radiator systems: Ensure proper insulation of water pipes to prevent freezing and cracking. A circulation pump can be paired to enhance water flow speed and improve heating efficiency.
  • Active heating solutions:
    • Electric heating: PTC ceramic heating plates are installed on the walls of the toilet area, capable of raising the temperature by 15℃ in 5 minutes, with a surface temperature limit of 60℃; air conditioning systems should be equipped with temperature sensors for automatic constant temperature control.
    • Fuel-fired hot air systems: As a backup solution for extreme climates, a 30,000 kcal/h fuel-fired hot air blower evenly distributes air through ducts, raising the temperature of a 5㎡ space by 15℃ within 30 minutes, recommended for activation below -20℃.
    • Municipal heat source utilization: Scenic spots with conditions can connect to centralized heating systems, achieving continuous and stable heating through radiators and reducing operating costs.

Basic Insulation

  • Wall structure: Adopt a double-layer design with an outer layer of color-coated steel plate and an inner layer of fireproof board, filled with 5cm of polyurethane foam or rock wool in between, with a thermal conductivity as low as 0.024W/(m·K), improving insulation performance by 3 times compared to traditional materials.
  • Door and window sealing: Install EPDM rubber strips and upgrade ventilation openings to temperature-controlled louvers, reducing heat loss by more than 60%.
  • Drainage system: Fill the trap of the squat toilet with expanded perlite and wrap the drainage pipes with a 50mm thick insulation layer to form a three-dimensional insulation system.

Pipe Freeze Protection

  • Insulation treatment: Wrap pipes with 3cm thick rubber-plastic insulation cotton and wrap with waterproof tape; in North China, install heating tapes that activate when temperatures drop below -5℃; wrap pipes with self-limiting heating cables (8W/M) and pair with intelligent temperature control boxes to maintain pipe surface temperatures above 5℃ in -15℃ environments.
  • Exposed component protection: Wrap outdoor water pipes and faucets with cotton-linen fabrics or foam plastics, focusing on protecting joints, and add a waterproof plastic sheet on the outer layer for moisture resistance.
  • Flowing water for freeze prevention: When temperatures drop below 0℃, slightly open the faucet at night to maintain a trickle (stream) of water flow in the pipes, collecting the dripping water in containers for reuse.
  • Draining stored water: When not in use for a long time, close the main valve and drain the water from the pipes; users of solar water heaters should drain the water from the pipes in advance.

Other Measures

  • Lubrication of metal components: Apply silicone-based anti-freeze lubricating oil to door locks, hinges, etc., weekly to prevent freezing.
  • Extreme weather response: Suspend use below -20℃ and drain the water storage tank.
  • Maintaining indoor temperature: Close doors and windows, cover with straw mats or other insulating materials, and maintain the indoor temperature above 0℃.
