How to Modify a Mobile Toilet Vehicle

Admin October 10, 2026

The modification of a mobile toilet vehicle should be carried out according to the vehicle type and specific needs. Here are some common modification methods:

I. Modification Based on a Bus

Taking Zhongtong's mobile toilet vehicle as an example, which is modified from an LCK6108D5A bus, the following core conditions need to be met:

  1. Body Structure: It adopts a non-load-bearing frame structure body and a front-mounted engine to ensure the stability of the upper-body modification.
  2. Power System: It is equipped with a Yuchai YC6J220-52 engine (with a power of 220 horsepower and meeting the National V emission standard) to meet the power requirements of the mobile toilet vehicle.
  3. Spatial Layout: Three doors are set up corresponding to three compartments - the front door leads to the driver's cabin, the middle door to the women's restroom, and the rear door to the men's restroom. The enclosed areas and windows use decorative panels similar to those of standard buses, and a camera is installed at the top of the rear of the vehicle, with safety standards consistent with those of ordinary buses.

II. Modification of On-board Urinals (Suitable for Small Vehicles)

  1. Modification Using Laundry Detergent Bottles:
    • Tools Required: Electric hand drill, water pipe, nuts, glue, etc.
    • Operation Steps: Drill a hole in the center of the bottle cap and install a connector. Connect it to a sewer hose and seal it. Test the tightness before use. It is important to choose corrosion-resistant materials to avoid liquid leakage.
  2. Modification Using a Car Armrest Box + Hose:
    • Drill a hole at the bottom of the armrest box and insert the hose into the bottom of the vehicle and connect it to a used plastic bottle (with water-filtering materials inside).
    • Avoid vehicle circuits, regularly replace the filtering materials, and test the drainage efficiency to prevent blockages or odors.

III. Modification of Electric Tricycles

  1. Ventilation and Safety: Open ventilation holes to ensure air circulation and install safety belts, handrails, and other facilities.
  2. Cleaning and Testing: Regularly clean the interior environment. After modification, conduct functional tests and adjust the positions and layouts of the facilities according to the results.

IV. Conceptual Modification of Bed Truck Chassis

Some plans propose drilling a hole in the bed truck chassis to design a squat toilet that is normally closed and can be opened when in use. However, the feasibility needs to be evaluated based on the actual vehicle structure, such as the chassis load-bearing capacity and the design of the drainage system.

General Precautions:

  • All modifications should prioritize testing the tightness to avoid liquid leakage.
  • For long-term use, regularly clean the containers and pipes to prevent bacterial growth.
  • It is recommended to fix the positions of the containers during driving to prevent shaking.
  • If possible, prioritize choosing finished on-board equipment (such as special on-board toilets) to improve safety and convenience.
