Mobile Toilet Upgraded

Admin September 21, 2026

The upgrade of mobile toilets is mainly reflected in four aspects: design, facilities, technology, and services.

Design Upgrade: After the update, the mobile public toilets in Pudong New Area feature a base of soft hues such as light beige and light brown, with dark blue outlining the borders and accenting certain areas. This not only facilitates public identification and location but also enhances their appeal. Additionally, barrier-free access and stainless steel handrails have been added in high-traffic areas, demonstrating care for special groups. The renovated old public toilet at the west entrance of Dachuan Third Lane in Xicheng District now boasts seven unisex squat toilets and three independent sit-down toilets, with enclosed designs to enhance privacy. The toilet area has been expanded, and separate areas for men's urinals and women's use have been established, improving usage efficiency.

Facility Upgrade: The ordinary toilet compartments in Pudong New Area's mobile public toilets are fully equipped with urinals, squat toilets, and sinks, with a simple and bright decoration. Additionally, "age-friendly and child-friendly" toilet compartments have been created, featuring auxiliary handrails beside the toilets and specially designed children's toilet areas. The electronic screens on the compartment doors display real-time usage status. The renovated public toilets in Xicheng District are equipped with heating, cooling, and fresh air systems. The barrier-free toilets feature robots that automatically wash and disinfect the toilet seats and clean the floor around the toilets. Each compartment is also equipped with emergency call buttons, fall prevention radar, mosquito repellent lamps, and feedback QR codes.

Technology Upgrade: In the prefabricated public toilets tested in September 2026, products using "waterless flushing and microbial degradation" technology performed excellently. For example, a product from a Chengdu technology company (Zhongyunhui) maintained stable degradation efficiency in extreme conditions of high altitude and minus 20 degrees Celsius in Tibet, achieving "odorless and pollution-free" results. Its self-developed "Yunhui Universal Vision" Internet of Things platform also allows for remote dynamic adjustment of microbial activity.

Service Upgrade: The mobile public toilet at the intersection of Century Avenue and Weifang Road in Pudong New Area has added a dedicated "Sanitation Station" for sanitation workers, equipped with facilities such as refrigerators, showers, microwaves, and charging ports, providing rest and replenishment for sanitation workers. The renovated public toilets in Xicheng District have dedicated cleaning staff from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., ensuring immediate cleaning whenever needed.
