Uncivilized Behavior in Mobile Toilets

Admin September 28, 2026

There are indeed some uncivilized phenomena in mobile toilets, mainly including urinating indiscriminately and not flushing after use.

Urinating indiscriminately: This is one of the more prominent uncivilized behaviors. At some large-scale event venues, such as the 2025 Suzhou Marathon, there were cases where runners urinated randomly in the green belt beside the mobile toilets along the race track. Despite there being a row of mobile toilets just 20 meters away from the incident site, some people still chose to relieve themselves in the green belt. This behavior not only damages the cleanliness and aesthetics of the public environment but may also harm the green vegetation and affect the overall image of the city. Moreover, the unpleasant odor from random urination permeates the surrounding air, causing discomfort to other users and reducing everyone's experience of using public facilities.

Not flushing after use: In some street mobile public toilets in Beijing, there is a problem of feces not being flushed after use. This phenomenon is partly due to equipment aging and malfunctions, such as sensor failures that prevent automatic flushing. When the sensor malfunctions, even if the user uses the toilet normally, the flushing mechanism cannot be triggered, leaving feces in the toilet bowl. However, some cases are also attributed to uncivilized behavior. Some users, after using the mobile toilet, do not press the flush button for various reasons, such as being in a hurry or lacking a sense of public morality, resulting in fecal residue. This behavior not only exposes subsequent users to a terrible toilet environment but also easily breeds bacteria and mosquitoes, spreading diseases and posing a threat to public health and safety.

These uncivilized phenomena reflect the weak public awareness of some citizens and their lack of respect and care for public facilities. To improve this situation, on the one hand, it is necessary to strengthen the maintenance and management of public facilities such as mobile toilets and promptly repair faulty equipment. On the other hand, it is also necessary to raise the civic qualities and public awareness of citizens through publicity and education, guiding everyone to consciously abide by public order and jointly maintain a good public environment.
