What Size Tiles to Choose for Mobile Toilets
Admin October 08, 2026
The selection of tile sizes for mobile toilets should be based on a comprehensive consideration of space size, functional requirements, and budget. Here are some common specifications and recommendations:

I. Selection of Floor Tile Sizes
- Small Spaces (<3㎡): Prioritize 300x300mm or smaller sizes (such as 100x100mm, 150x150mm). Small tiles reduce cutting waste and material loss, while creating a non-slip texture through dense laying, suitable for areas prone to water accumulation like shower zones. It is important to choose products with a rough surface or high slip resistance (such as matte tiles, non-slip glazed tiles) to enhance safety.
- Medium Spaces (3-5㎡): Recommended 400x400mm or 400x800mm. The former offers high cost-effectiveness and mature laying techniques; the latter is a popular size with a strong vertical extension, visually raising the space, and moderate laying costs and material expenses.
- Large Spaces (≥5㎡): Large-format tiles like 600x1200mm can be selected. Large sizes reduce the number of seams, resulting in a cleaner and more grand appearance, but require a high level of flatness for the ground base to prevent cracking due to hollowing. Additionally, the unit price and labor cost for laying large tiles are higher, necessitating budget considerations.
II. Selection of Wall Tile Sizes
- Small to Medium Spaces: The classic size is 300x600mm, suitable for the height and area of most mobile toilets, with high construction efficiency and controllable costs. If reducing seams is desired, 400x800mm can be chosen, with horizontal laying widening the visual width, suitable for narrow spaces.
- Stylized Design: For retro or industrial styles, try 200x600mm narrow and long tiles, enhancing the sense of lines through vertical arrangement; for large spaces (such as high-end mobile toilets), 600x1200mm wall-floor integrated laying can be adopted, unifying materials and colors to enhance overall texture.
III. Key Decision Factors
- Slip Resistance: The floor of the shower area must choose non-slip tiles (such as R10 grade or above), and wall tiles should avoid being overly smooth to prevent slipping due to water stains.
- Budget Control: The unit price and laying cost of large-format tiles are significantly higher than those of small tiles, requiring adjustments based on the project budget. For example, the material cost of 600x1200mm tiles may be 50%-100% higher than that of 300x300mm tiles.
- Construction Conditions: When the wall flatness is insufficient, laying large tiles is prone to hollowing, requiring advance base leveling; using large tiles in small spaces may increase labor costs due to complex cutting.
Summary: The selection of tiles for mobile toilets should be practicality-oriented, with small spaces prioritizing slip resistance and cost control, and large spaces focusing on aesthetics and integrity. It is recommended to flexibly match floor and wall tiles based on specific area, functional zoning, and budget, referring to the above specifications.
