Tile Installation for Mobile Toilets

Admin September 22, 2026

When installing tiles in a mobile toilet, whether it is necessary to knock out the existing floor tiles during squat toilet replacement depends on the installation method; the choice of floor tiles should prioritize slip resistance, with recommendations for full-body tiles, mosaic tiles, antique tiles, and other types, preferably from well-known brands.

Squat Toilet Replacement and Floor Tile Handling

If the squat toilet in the mobile toilet was installed after the floor tiles were laid, replacement usually involves directly removing the squat toilet without knocking out the original floor tiles; only the base layer needs to be cleaned and new tiles laid. However, if the squat toilet was installed first and then the floor tiles were laid (i.e., the tiles cover the edges or part of the structure of the squat toilet), it is necessary to knock out the tiles covering the squat toilet during replacement to facilitate the removal of the old squat toilet and reinstallation. During this process, care should be taken to protect the surrounding floor tiles to avoid expanding the damaged area.

Floor Tile Type Selection

  1. Full-body tiles: These have a rough surface, low water absorption, strong wear resistance, and excellent slip resistance, making them the preferred choice for mobile toilet floors. Their uniform material ensures that even if the surface wears, the slip resistance is not affected, suitable for high-frequency use scenarios.
  2. Mosaic tiles: Composed of small tiles pieced together, the segmented design increases surface friction and provides good slip resistance. However, attention should be paid to cleaning the gaps to prevent dirt accumulation and maintain hygiene, suitable for scenarios with high slip resistance requirements and acceptable regular maintenance.
  3. Glazed tiles: The glazed surface texture can increase friction, but slip resistance decreases when wet. It is recommended to use them only in dry areas (such as near the sink) and avoid laying them in the squat toilet or shower area.
  4. Antique or matte tiles: With a rough or matte surface, these tiles have good slip resistance and are easy to clean, suitable for budget-limited situations. Their vintage style can also enhance the overall aesthetics of the mobile toilet.

Brand and Process Recommendations

Choose products from well-known brands such as Marco Polo, Dongpeng, and Nobel, which adopt processes like microcrystalline glass glaze and textured surfaces to further enhance slip resistance and durability. For example, microcrystalline glass glaze can increase surface hardness and reduce wear; textured designs increase friction through physical structure and maintain slip resistance even when wet.

Construction Precautions

Before laying floor tiles, ensure the base layer is flat and dry to avoid hollow or detached tiles. If squat toilet replacement is involved, plan the drainage slope in advance to ensure water flows towards the squat toilet or floor drain and prevent water accumulation. Additionally, it is recommended to use mold-resistant caulk for the tile gaps to inhibit bacterial growth and improve hygiene standards.
