Thermal Insulation Materials for Mobile Toilets

Admin September 28, 2026

Common thermal insulation materials for mobile toilets mainly include sandwich panels, fiberglass, and aluminum foil insulation boards, which achieve efficient thermal insulation through different structural designs and material properties.

Sandwich Panels (Color-Coated Steel Sandwich Panels or Composite Panels)

Sandwich panels are one of the core thermal insulation materials for mobile toilets, featuring a structure of two metal panels (color-coated steel or aluminum) with thermal insulation core materials sandwiched in between. The core materials typically include polystyrene (EPS), rock wool, or polyurethane foam, all of which have low thermal conductivity and effectively block heat transfer. For example, polyurethane foam can have a thermal conductivity as low as 0.022 W/(m·K), remaining stable within a temperature range of -50℃ to 150℃, making it suitable for extreme climates. Rock wool provides Class A fire resistance through its inorganic fiber structure while also offering sound absorption and noise reduction capabilities. Sandwich panels combine the reflective effect of the metal panels with the blocking effect of the core materials, forming a “reflection + blocking” dual thermal insulation mechanism that significantly reduces the temperature difference between the interior and exterior of mobile toilets, enhancing user comfort.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass is commonly used in mobile toilets as an overall roof thermal insulation layer, with its core advantage lying in the air layer formed by its fiber structure. Fiberglass itself has low thermal conductivity (approximately 0.03-0.04 W/(m·K)), and the gaps between fibers further slow down heat convection. When used as a roofing material, fiberglass is often combined with a waterproof membrane to form an “insulation + waterproofing” integrated structure, preventing rainwater infiltration while reducing solar radiation heat transfer through the fibers' blocking effect. Additionally, fiberglass's sound insulation performance (NRC ≥ 0.85) can simultaneously reduce external noise interference, enhancing the multifunctionality of mobile toilets.

Aluminum Foil Insulation Boards

Aluminum foil insulation boards are lightweight materials commonly used on the roofs of mobile toilets, with their thermal insulation principle based on the high reflectivity of aluminum foil (up to 95% or more). The aluminum foil surface can reflect 80%-90% of solar radiation heat, reducing heat absorption. Meanwhile, its interior is typically filled with bubble film or XPE foam, further blocking heat conduction through air layers. This material combines waterproofing and thermal insulation functions, making it particularly suitable for humid or rainy regions—the corrosion resistance of aluminum foil can withstand rainwater erosion, while the closed-cell structure of the foam layer prevents moisture penetration, ensuring long-term stability of thermal insulation performance.

The selection of these materials should be based on the usage scenarios of mobile toilets: in cold regions, rock wool sandwich panels can be prioritized for their combination of fire resistance and thermal insulation; in hot regions, aluminum foil insulation boards are suitable for enhancing solar radiation heat reflection; while fiberglass is more appropriate for scenarios with additional sound insulation requirements.
