How to Handle the Sink in Mobile Toilets
Admin September 20, 2026
Moving the sink (washbasin) outside the mobile toilet can resolve the awkwardness during peak usage times in the bathroom, improve usage efficiency, and is particularly suitable for small-sized bathrooms. The specific methods and precautions are as follows:

Specific Methods
- Half-Wall Design: Place the washbasin in the hallway outside the bathroom entrance and build a half-wall as a partition, which does not affect lighting. The countertop can hold toiletries, and a mirror cabinet can be installed above to increase storage space. Part of the half-wall can also be "hollowed out" to create a niche, further increasing storage capacity.
- Screen Partition: If no wall was built initially and you want to add a partition later to avoid awkwardness, a screen can be used instead. Screens come in various materials, such as metal and wood, and can make the space appear dignified and transparent.
- Glass Partition: For better transparency, a glass partition can be installed after measuring the dimensions accurately. It is advisable to choose frosted glass or Longhong glass (a type of textured glass) and avoid transparent glass, as transparent glass tends to leave water stains and is difficult to clean.
- Full-Wall Design: On the other side of the washbasin, build a lightweight wall to completely separate the washbasin area from the living room or other areas. Then, paint or tile the wall as usual. The width of the wall should be 15 to 20 centimeters more than the depth of the washbasin countertop. Storage shelves or mirror cabinets can also be installed above the wall and washbasin to increase storage.
Precautions
- Waterproofing: The walls and floor of the externally moved washbasin must be properly waterproofed, generally from the floor to 1.5 meters above the washbasin, to prevent water leakage from causing mold, dampness, or peeling of the wall surface. It is best to choose tiles for the walls, as latex paint or wallpaper can be affected by moisture over time. Tiles are waterproof and easy to clean if water stains occur.
- Drainage: There are two drainage methods: wall drainage and floor drainage. It is more recommended to use a suspended washbasin cabinet with wall drainage, where the water pipe is inside the wall and drains directly from the wall, saving space and looking aesthetically pleasing, with less dirt accumulation. Remember to reserve a maintenance opening in advance. At the same time, a vertical pipe should be installed outside the bathroom in advance to ensure smooth water supply and drainage.
- Others: Prioritize tiles for the walls and floor. If wood flooring is used, be sure to install a threshold stone to separate the areas. Install water baffles at the front and back of the countertop to prevent water leakage.
