Mobile Toilet Shelf DIY
Admin September 21, 2026
The mobile toilet shelf can be achieved by modifying a fixed shelf or directly assembling a mobile structure. The core idea is to combine a support frame, load-bearing plates, and mobile modules while ensuring stability and moisture resistance.

I. Basic Structure Reference: Assembly Logic of Fixed Shelves
The existing half-wall shelf design for bathrooms provides a reference framework:
- Support System: Use stainless steel vertical support rods as the main columns, connecting them to crossbars via four-hole flange couplings to form a rectangular frame. Flange stainless steel nuts and metal washers are used to secure the joints, ensuring structural stability.
- Load-Bearing Layer: Customize solid wood boards as the shelving layers, applying walnut-colored wood wax oil to the surface to enhance moisture resistance. The boards are fixed to the crossbars using circular shaft positioning rings to prevent sliding.
- Protective Design: Use 0.6mm steel wire ropes as side railings, adjusting the tension with fine wire locks to prevent items from falling.
II. Mobile Function Implementation: Adding Castor Modules
Fixed structures require modification to achieve mobility, referencing existing mobile shelf designs in the market:
- Wheel Selection: Choose heavy-duty castors with brakes (load-bearing capacity ≥50kg per wheel) to ensure stability in toilet environments. The wheel diameter is recommended to be ≥10cm to overcome slight ground protrusions.
- Installation Position: Fix the castors at the four corners of the shelf bottom, extending the column length with stainless steel shaft cross connectors to provide installation space for the wheel modules. If the original frame height is insufficient, increase the number of crossbar layers or replace them with longer vertical support rods.
- Center of Gravity Balance: The mobile toilet shelf needs to carry items such as toilet paper and cleaning agents. When designing, the load-bearing layer should be kept as low as possible to avoid top-heaviness and potential tipping.
III. Material and Tool List
- Core Materials: Stainless steel vertical support rods, crossbars, circular shaft positioning rings, four-hole flange couplings, flange stainless steel nuts, metal washers, customized solid wood boards, walnut-colored wood wax oil, stainless steel shaft cross connectors, 0.6mm steel wire ropes, fine wire locks, heavy-duty castors (4 pieces).
- Auxiliary Tools: Electric drill, wrench, level, tape measure, wire cutters.
IV. Precautions
- Moisture-Proof Treatment: The high humidity in toilet environments requires waterproof coating treatment for wooden components and regular application of anti-rust oil for metal components.
- Fixed and Mobile Switching: For temporary fixation, in addition to locking the castor brakes, a detachable wall-mounted fixing bracket can be installed on the back of the frame.
- Safety Testing: After assembly, conduct no-load mobility tests for stability, then gradually increase the load to the designed carrying capacity.
