How Mobile Toilets Treat Sewage
Admin October 19, 2026
The main methods for mobile toilets to treat sewage include conventional flushing, vacuum sewage systems, water-storage sewage systems, and biodegradation systems.

- Conventional flushing: This is a relatively common treatment method. Mobile toilets need to be connected to water supply and drainage pipes, and sewage is discharged through manual or automatic sensing devices. After the user finishes using the toilet, pressing the flush button or triggering the sensing device will cause the water flow to wash away the waste, and the sewage is then discharged into a septic tank or municipal sewer network. This sewage discharge method is suitable for various water-rich environments, such as some temporary event venues and construction sites in cities. Its construction cost is relatively low, the technology is mature, and the operation is simple, which can well meet daily sewage discharge needs.
- Vacuum sewage system: This system operates based on the principle of negative pressure. The vacuum pump is the core component. When the sewage in the public toilet reaches the preset water level, the vacuum pump automatically starts and uses strong negative pressure to quickly suck the sewage and waste into a collection container. This discharge method is extremely efficient and uses very little water, significantly saving water resources compared to conventional flushing. At the same time, due to negative pressure suction, it can effectively prevent sewage leakage and odor diffusion, keeping the interior of the public toilet clean and hygienic. It is suitable for places with high environmental requirements and large pedestrian traffic, such as large-scale sports event venues and tourist attractions.
- Water-storage sewage system: This system also uses a flushing method to discharge waste into a water storage tank. As the number of uses increases, the sewage in the water storage tank gradually increases. When the water storage tank is full, specialized personnel need to be arranged for cleaning and replacement. This discharge method is suitable for places with sufficient water sources and easy cleaning, such as some field operation camps with a fixed water supply.
- Biodegradation system: Some mobile toilets adopt advanced biodegradation technology. By setting up specific biological treatment devices in the toilet, microorganisms are used to convert organic matter in the sewage into harmless substances before discharge. This discharge method is very environmentally friendly, can significantly reduce sewage pollution to the environment, and is in line with the concept of sustainable development. It is often used in eco-tourism areas and nature reserves with strict environmental protection requirements.
