How Mobile Toilets Discharge Sewage and Take in Water
Admin October 07, 2026
Mobile toilets have various methods for sewage discharge and water intake. Sewage discharge mainly includes conventional water-flushing, vacuum sewage systems, water-storage sewage systems, biodegradation technology, direct discharge, and fecal tanks. Water intake is generally achieved through a 25-diameter inlet pipe at the rear of the toilet, which is connected to the ground for use.

Sewage Discharge Methods
- Conventional Water-Flushing: This is the most common sewage discharge method. It requires connection to water supply and drainage pipes, and sewage is discharged either manually or automatically through sensors. The sewage is directed to septic tanks or municipal sewage networks. This method is suitable for various water-supplied environments and has relatively low construction costs. For example, many public toilets in cities use this conventional water-flushing method, and as long as there are complete water and electricity facilities, they can be easily constructed and used.
- Vacuum Sewage Systems: These operate on the principle of negative pressure. A vacuum pump sucks sewage and waste into a collection container. When the sewage in the public toilet reaches a preset level, the vacuum pump automatically starts and quickly sucks the sewage and waste into the collection container. This method is highly efficient, uses minimal water, and effectively prevents sewage leakage and odor diffusion. It is widely used in places with high environmental requirements, such as high-end scenic spots and large event venues.
- Water-Storage Sewage Systems: These discharge waste into a storage tank through water-flushing. When the sewage in the public toilet reaches a preset level, i.e., when the storage tank is full, it needs to be cleaned and replaced. This method is suitable for places with sufficient water supply and easy cleaning, such as some temporarily constructed construction site toilets, which can adopt this sewage discharge method when there is an adequate water supply and regular cleaning can be carried out.
- Biodegradation Technology: This technology converts organic matter in sewage into harmless substances before discharge. It is relatively environmentally friendly and can reduce the pollution of sewage to the environment. It is applied in some mobile toilets that emphasize environmental protection.
- Direct Discharge and Fecal Tanks: Direct discharge involves connecting to water supply and drainage pipes for sewage discharge; fecal tanks collect feces in a tank, which is cleaned periodically.
Water Intake Method
The sewage outlet is at the rear of the toilet, and there is a 25-diameter inlet pipe. Simply connect it to the ground for use. The operation is relatively simple and convenient, and it can meet the daily water needs of mobile toilets.
