Mobile Toilet Renovation with Recycled Materials - Handmade

Admin October 02, 2026

When renovating a mobile toilet using recycled materials by hand, you can refer to the following three methods:

Renovation Using Plastic Buckets

First, cut the bucket at one-third of its height and install a set of wheels at the bottom for easy mobility. Next, nail several wooden strips onto the bucket to increase its height. Create two slits as the door for the toilet, and secure two synthetic wooden boards at the edges of the iron sheet to make the door sturdy. Place an iron sheet in the middle of the raised wooden strips and cover the top with a cut plastic bucket. Overlap the iron sheet connections to prevent peeking. Then, apply anti-corrosive paint to the wooden strips. Use leftover wooden floorboards from your father-in-law to make the toilet door by overlapping them and screwing them together. Install the hinges and test the door's opening and closing. Finally, drill holes and install drainage holes. Repurpose a large trash can by drilling holes in its body and bottom and installing water pipe connectors to serve as a water storage tank for showering. Make a showerhead using PVC pipes, connect the water pipes with strong adhesive, and use a three-way connector on the main water pipe to divert water to the sink. Also, use a three-way connector inside, with one outlet for showering. After installing the toilet, fill the gaps at the bottom with epoxy resin.

Renovation Using Water Storage Tanks and Pallets

Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of a pallet. Place a water storage tank on the pallet and use an angle grinder to cut along the marked line at the top of the tank to remove the top and create an open tank. Place another open-top water storage tank upside down on the first tank and secure the outer frame with self-tapping screws. Next, cut a rectangular opening measuring 180 centimeters in height and 50 centimeters in width on the outer frame of the water storage tank, and cut the tank body accordingly to form the doorway. Then, make a hole in the floor inside the water storage tank, insert a elbow from the bottom upwards and cut a section of water pipe, seal the gaps with glue, and cut off the excess water pipe. Place the toilet over the drainage hole and secure it with glue. Finally, fix the water pipe on the wall brackets, install a faucet, secure a pipe cap with screws below the faucet, connect the water pipe and make a hole at the bottom as the drainage pipe outlet. Make a hole in the pipe cap, apply glass glue, and fix a sink made of a stainless steel basin. Connect the water inlet pipe to the toilet tank, connect the shower hose, install the shower bracket and toilet seat, install a spray-type showerhead made of water pipes, bring in wooden boards, fix hinges on the frame of the water storage tank, and fix the other side of the hinges to a wooden box to form the toilet door. Then, install the door handle.

Renovation Using Chemical Barrels

Find two large chemical barrels, remove the steel bars on top, and use a cutting machine to completely cut off the lids of the plastic barrels. Place the two plastic barrels upside down together and secure the upper and lower iron frames. Cut an opening the size of a door frame on one side, and also cut the inner plastic barrel. Find a rectangular iron sheet and secure the gaps between the two plastic barrels with screws. Make a hole in the corner of the plastic barrel, install a PVC pipe and apply sealant, cut off the excess PVC pipe, place the toilet on top, install the toilet tank and secure it with glue, and connect and install the water inlet pipe and sink. Make a shower using PVC pipes and connect and install it. Install two wooden doors using hinges and install handles. Extend and connect the water inlet pipe, test all functions, and connect the drainage hole to a water pipe and a septic tank.
