Mobile Toilet Renovation Specifications
Admin September 22, 2026
The renovation of mobile toilets must strictly adhere to legal regulations, technical conditions, and compliant plans. The specific specifications are as follows:

I. Legal and Regulatory Restrictions
- Location Restrictions: According to the Residential Design Code (GB 50096-2011), toilets must not be directly placed above the bedrooms, living rooms (halls), kitchens, or dining rooms of lower-level occupants to prevent sewage leakage from affecting living safety.
- Waterproofing Requirements: Based on the Administrative Measures for Interior Decoration and Renovation of Residential Buildings, rooms or balconies without waterproofing requirements are prohibited from being converted into toilets. Non-compliant renovations may face fines ranging from 500 yuan to 10,000 yuan and require rework and rectification.
II. Technical Feasibility Conditions
- Sewage System Renovation:
- Toilets and other sanitary fixtures must be connected to sewage pipes with a diameter of ≥110mm, and the slope should typically be ≥2% to avoid blockages.
- Flat pipe relocation or floor elevation may lead to poor drainage or foul odors due to insufficient slope; floor elevation may also cause water accumulation and backflow risks.
- When using a relocator, the moving distance should ideally not exceed 15 centimeters. The risk of blockage increases exponentially beyond 30 centimeters. For long-distance relocation, consider wall-mounted toilets (with sewage pipes directly connected to the main pipeline) or appropriately elevate the floor to reserve slope.
- Waterproofing Treatment:
- The new area must be repainted with a waterproof layer to a height of not less than 1.8 meters, with the number of coats typically being 2-3.
- After waterproofing is completed, a 48-hour closed water test must be conducted to verify no leakage before construction can continue.
- Pipe Layout and Noise:
- Improper pipe routing may generate water flow noise, and inadequate sealing at floor penetrations may cause condensation water to drip.
- The impact can be reduced by wrapping pipes with soundproofing materials and sealing floor penetrations.
III. Compliant Renovation Plans
- Partial Expansion of the Original Toilet: Without changing the main location, incorporate adjacent enclosed balconies or other areas with waterproofing conditions into the toilet, ensuring connection to the original sewage pipes and conducting a closed water test.
- Slight Toilet Relocation: When the relocation distance is ≤30cm, an eccentric relocator can be used to ensure the floor slope meets drainage requirements while properly sealing pipe joints and conducting waterproofing treatment. Multiple drainage tests should be conducted after installation to ensure smooth water flow.
- Functional Separation: Move the sink outside the toilet to alleviate space congestion without requiring major changes to the sewage system.
IV. Considerations for Special Needs
From a Feng Shui perspective, toilets belong to the water element, and relocating them requires consideration of the new location's compatibility with the home's five elements (such as the wealth position and the Wen Chang position). If the original location conforms to the Feng Shui layout, relocation may disrupt the energy field, affecting health and fortune. If relocation is necessary, it is advisable to consult a professional Feng Shui master first and ensure proper moisture and odor control measures are taken.
