Mobile Toilet Renovation and House Decoration
It is feasible to relocate the mobile toilet (toilet bowl) during house renovation, but appropriate methods should be selected based on the type of bathroom drainage and the relocation distance, and relevant precautions should be taken.

First, it is essential to determine the type of bathroom drainage, which is divided into same-floor drainage (sunken bathroom) and inter-floor drainage. In a same-floor drainage bathroom, the floor is approximately 40 cm lower than the floor level of the rest of the house, and the drainage pipes are located within the same unit, making modifications relatively convenient. Inter-floor drainage involves drainage pipes passing through the floor slab for drainage. To determine the type, look up when receiving the rough-cast house; if there are water pipes above the bathroom, it is inter-floor drainage; if not, it is same-floor drainage.
The main methods for relocating the toilet bowl are as follows:
- Using a toilet bowl relocator: This modification is relatively simple and suitable for short-distance adjustments. It is not recommended to relocate more than 2 meters. When using a relocator for inter-floor drainage, since the floor slab cannot be excavated, the floor slab needs to be raised, and it is best to create a drainage slope; otherwise, it is prone to blockage.
- Converting floor drainage to wall drainage: Connect the toilet bowl directly to the sewage riser. The toilet bowl can only be relocated to the adjacent wall of the sewage riser and not to the opposite wall. After modification, the toilet bowl is less likely to block, and this method is suitable for both same-floor and inter-floor drainage. However, converting to wall drainage requires building a false wall, which can be combined with niches to create storage space during renovation.
- Directly extending or shortening the pipes: This method is suitable for sunken bathrooms, as the floor slab position is lower, and the internal floor can be modified.
- Modifying the sewage pipe in the neighbor's unit: For inter-floor drainage, if the neighbor agrees, you can go to the neighbor's unit to directly modify the sewage pipe to the desired location. However, a waterproofing test must be redone after modification.
In addition, during the relocation construction, attention should be paid to the slope and sealing of the drainage pipes, and the waterproofing layer should be redone. Improper operation may increase the risk of blockage or trigger neighborhood disputes. If the relocation distance exceeds 15 centimeters or elbows are used, the risk of blockage also increases. Therefore, when relocating the toilet bowl, it is essential to select an appropriate method based on the actual situation and carry out the construction strictly in accordance with regulations.
