Mobile Toilet Renovation: Dry-Wet Zoning

Admin October 06, 2026

Achieving dry-wet zoning in mobile toilet renovation can be realized through the following methods:

The core of dry-wet separation is to physically separate the shower area (wet zone) from other functional areas (dry zones) to prevent moisture diffusion, which can lead to wet floors, equipment corrosion, or inconvenience in use. Common separation forms include two-way separation (only separating the shower area) and three-way separation (independent shower, sink, and toilet), with the specific method chosen based on spatial layout and budget.

1. Install a Shower Curtain Partition A shower curtain is the most cost-effective and easy-to-operate solution. By installing a rod above the shower area and hanging a waterproof shower curtain, a soft partition is created. Its advantages include:

  • High flexibility: It can be extended or retracted as needed, saving space;
  • Strong style adaptability: Shower curtains come in various patterns and materials, matching different renovation styles;
  • Simple maintenance: Regular replacement or cleaning is sufficient, requiring no professional installation. However, note that the waterproofing effect of shower curtains is limited, and moisture may still escape, necessitating the use of an exhaust fan.

2. Corner Floor-to-Ceiling Glass Partition Install tempered glass against the corner to form a semi-open shower area. This method features:

  • High space utilization: The glass only occupies the corner area, not affecting the overall flow;
  • Strong sense of openness: The glass material maintains visual openness, suitable for small toilets;
  • Good waterproofing effect: The glass height is usually over 1.8 meters, effectively blocking water splashes. Ensure the glass edges are beveled to avoid scratches and regularly clean water stains.

3. External Sink Design Move the sink outside the toilet door or to an independent area to achieve complete dry-wet separation. Its advantages are:

  • Non-interference of functions: Washing, toileting, and showering can be done simultaneously, improving usage efficiency;
  • Dry zone protection: The sink area is free from moisture, extending the lifespan of cabinets and appliances;
  • Flexible space planning: The external area can be combined with storage cabinets to increase storage capacity. This plan requires pre-planning of water pipe routes to ensure the external area has water supply and drainage.

4. Enclosed Glass Shower Room Design Adopt a fully enclosed glass shower room, fixing tempered glass with a metal frame to form an independent bathing space. Its core advantages include:

  • Best moisture barrier effect: The sealed design of glass and frame prevents water splashes;
  • Outstanding thermal insulation: The enclosed structure reduces heat loss, making winter use more comfortable;
  • Enhanced safety: The glass must be covered with a shatterproof film to prevent injury from accidental breakage. Note that the shower room should have a maintenance access point for easy later maintenance of drainage pipes.

Implementation Recommendations:

  • For small toilets, prioritize shower curtains or corner glass partitions to balance functionality and space;
  • For households with many members, recommend external sinks or three-way separation designs to improve usage efficiency;
  • Choose tempered glass with a thickness of no less than 8 millimeters for glass materials to ensure safety;
  • Lay anti-slip tiles in the dry zone and add drainage grooves in the wet zone to speed up water drainage.
