Mobile Toilet Removed

Admin September 23, 2026

There may be various reasons why mobile toilets are no longer available. Here is a detailed introduction:

Removed due to safety hazards or disruption of public order

Some mobile toilets may be removed because they pose issues that are detrimental to the public environment or safety. For example, the mobile public toilet located below Building 7 in the coconut garden in the urban area was removed because it occupied the road surface, not only affecting normal traffic order and causing inconvenience to pedestrians and vehicles, but also presenting sanitation and fire safety hazards. In terms of sanitation, due to infrequent cleaning or inadequate facilities, it was prone to breeding bacteria and generating unpleasant odors, affecting the quality of life of nearby residents. Fire safety hazards may be reflected in the building materials and layout of the toilet not meeting fire safety standards. In the event of a fire or other emergency, it would hinder rescue efforts and evacuation. After being reported, the local street office removed the toilet for the sake of ensuring public safety and order.

Rectified and removed due to design concerns

Some mobile toilets may have design flaws that raise public concerns, leading to rectification and removal. For instance, a "tide toilet" in the scenic area of West Lake in Huizhou, Guangdong, had a design feature where the signs for men's and women's toilets could be manually changed. The original intention of this design was likely to flexibly respond to the varying number of male and female toilet users at different times and improve the toilet's utilization efficiency. However, this design raised concerns, such as the possibility of the signs being changed arbitrarily, leading to embarrassing situations where toilet users enter the wrong toilet, as well as potential management loopholes and safety hazards. After realizing these issues, the scenic area promptly implemented rectification measures and removed the movable signs.

Closed due to damage or vandalism

Many mobile public toilets on the Tianfu Greenway in the northern part of Chengdu have been closed due to damage or vandalism. This may be due to high usage frequency and inadequate maintenance, resulting in malfunctions of toilet facilities such as toilets and faucets, making them unable to be used normally. It may also be caused by human vandalism, such as malicious damage to doors and windows and sanitation facilities, rendering the toilets unable to meet basic usage standards and forcing them to be closed for repair or handling.

Stolen

There have also been cases where mobile toilets have been stolen. For example, the mobile toilet at the intersection of Tianmen Mountain Road and Longgang Road was stolen by illegal suspects. This may be because mobile toilets have certain economic value, or the illegal suspects carried out the theft for other malicious purposes.
