Mobile Toilet Overturn

Admin September 20, 2026

There are different situations of mobile toilet “overturn”, including actual rollover, design and management “overturn”, and falling accidents.

Actual Rollover Situation

An incident of a mobile toilet accidentally rolling over occurred abroad. At that time, the mobile toilet lost its balance and rolled over during use. Despite having to endure the unpleasant odor emanating from the toilet, the people around actively extended a helping hand to rescue those trapped inside. Such actual rollover situations are often caused by factors such as uneven ground at the placement location of the mobile toilet, external impacts, or insufficient structural stability of the mobile toilet itself. For example, in some outdoor event venues, if the ground has potholes or slopes and the mobile toilet is not effectively fixed after placement, it is prone to roll over due to a shift in the center of gravity during use by people.

Design and Management “Overturn” Situation

The “tide toilet” in Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area, Guangdong, encountered design and management “overturn” issues. There was a manually adjustable signboard hanging at the entrance of the toilet, which was presumably designed to flexibly change the toilet's gender designation according to usage needs at different times. However, the iron door behind had no lock and was unmanned, and the sign could be freely adjusted, which raised concerns among netizens about privacy issues. Due to these design and management loopholes, users might unknowingly enter the toilet area designated for the opposite sex, leading to embarrassment and privacy violations. Later, the adjustable sign in question was removed, new doorplates were installed, and personnel were assigned to be on duty, resolving this issue.

Falling Accident Situation

A serious accident occurred on a century-old bridge in Seville, Spain, where a mobile toilet fell from the top of the bridge's pylon. When the mobile toilet fell from a great height, “fecal water” splashed out, not only causing environmental pollution but also potentially posing a safety threat to people and facilities below the bridge. Such falling accidents may be due to factors such as the mobile toilet not being firmly installed, the failure of the fixing devices, or the influence of severe weather conditions like strong winds.
