How to Remove Odors from Mobile Toilets

Admin October 07, 2026

Odors in mobile toilets can be effectively removed using the following methods:

  1. Use specialized deodorizing powder for smart mobile toilets
The specialized solidifying deodorizing powder in smart mobile toilet kits is a core tool designed to target urine odors. When using it, evenly sprinkle the deodorizing powder into a plastic bag. After urine comes into contact with it, a solidification reaction is triggered in about 30 seconds. Through chemical adsorption, it converts liquid urine into solid gel while decomposing odor molecules such as ammonia. This method is suitable for temporary or mobile scenarios, is easy to operate, and has high deodorization efficiency. However, the plastic bag needs to be replaced regularly to maintain the effect.

  2. Place vinegar or cooling oil
The acetic acid in vinegar can react with alkaline substances in odors (such as ammonia gas) through neutralization, reducing the odor concentration. Place a cup of vinegar with its mouth open in a corner of the toilet, and the air quality can be significantly improved within 24 hours. It needs to be replaced weekly to maintain the effect. Cooling oil forms an odor barrier through the volatilization of ingredients such as menthol and eucalyptus oil to mask odor molecules. Open the lid of the cooling oil box and place it in a low position (such as a corner on the ground). Taking advantage of its higher density than air, it can cover the odor area more persistently.

  3. Spread calcium superphosphate
Calcium superphosphate (mainly composed of calcium dihydrogen phosphate) can react chemically with urea in urine to generate odorless substances such as ammonium phosphate salts. Spread a small amount of calcium superphosphate powder evenly on the floor or in the toilet bowl of the mobile toilet 1-2 times a day to continuously suppress the production of ammonia odors. This method is suitable for long-term use scenarios, but attention should be paid to controlling the dosage to avoid powder accumulation affecting cleanliness.

  4. Special treatment for floor drain backflow odors
If the odor comes from floor drain backflow, the sewer needs to be cleaned. First, remove the floor drain cover and directly pour 50-100 grams of baking soda into the sewer opening. Then, slowly pour 100-200 milliliters of white vinegar. The mixture of the two produces carbon dioxide bubbles, which can strip organic substances such as urine scale and grease from the inner wall of the pipeline while neutralizing acidic odors. After the reaction is complete, tighten the floor drain cover (use oil paper to assist in sealing if the seal is not tight). It is recommended to perform this operation every half a month to prevent blockage and odor recurrence.

Precautions:

  • Chemical deodorization methods (such as vinegar and calcium superphosphate) should avoid being mixed with strong oxidants to prevent the production of toxic gases.
  • When treating floor drains, wear gloves to prevent baking soda or white vinegar from irritating the skin.
  • Mobile toilets need to be regularly cleaned of excreta to reduce odor production at the source.
