Mobile Toilet Odor Removal Methods
The commonly used odor removal methods for mobile toilets are mainly divided into four categories: physical, chemical, biological, and comprehensive odor removal. Details are as follows:

Physical Odor Removal Methods
1. Ventilation and Air Exchange
By installing exhaust fans or natural ventilation systems, the air flow inside the toilet is accelerated, expelling stale air and introducing fresh air. It is recommended to have at least 10 air exchanges per hour to effectively reduce the concentration of odors such as hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. This method is suitable for mobile toilets with open spaces and good ventilation conditions.
2. Activated Carbon Adsorption
Using activated carbon with a high iodine value (≥1000mg/g), its microporous structure can efficiently adsorb odor molecules (such as hydrogen sulfide and ammonia). It is recommended to place 1-2 kg of activated carbon per cubic meter of space and replace it monthly to maintain adsorption effectiveness. This method is suitable for enclosed or semi-enclosed environments but requires regular maintenance.
Chemical Odor Removal Methods
1. Oxidizing Deodorizers
Chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) solution (concentration 0.1-0.3ppm) is used to oxidize and decompose odor substances such as mercaptans and amines. It is recommended to spray every 4 hours and is suitable for high-concentration odor scenarios. However, attention should be paid to controlling the concentration to avoid irritation to humans or equipment.
2. Masking Deodorizers
Plant essential oil formulations containing limonene or citronellol mask odors through fragrance molecules and are suitable for temporary event venues (such as exhibitions and concerts). Their duration is about 2-3 hours, and they need to be reapplied according to foot traffic. However, they cannot fundamentally eliminate odor sources.
Biological Odor Removal Methods
1. Compound Microbial Agents
Agents containing Bacillus subtilis (≥1×10⁸CFU/g) and nitrifying bacteria can decompose urea in urine and proteins in feces into harmless substances. It is recommended to apply 50 grams of the agent per 10 liters of excreta, with a decomposition efficiency of over 90%, suitable for long-term use in mobile toilets.
2. Biological Enzyme Deodorization System
Using immobilized enzyme reactors to continuously treat exhaust gas, the removal rate of ammonia exceeds 85%, with an operating cost of about 0.5 yuan per cubic meter. This method is environmentally friendly and efficient but requires regular maintenance of enzyme activity, suitable for large mobile toilets or centralized treatment scenarios.
Comprehensive Odor Removal Solutions
1. Three-Stage Treatment System
Combining physical filtration (PP cotton + activated carbon), chemical oxidation (UV photocatalysis), and biological degradation technologies, the overall system has an odor removal efficiency of ≥95%, suitable for high-demand scenarios (such as airports and scenic spots).
2. Intelligent Control System
Through ammonia sensors (detection range 0-100ppm) linked to spray devices, when the concentration exceeds 20ppm, the odor removal program is automatically triggered, achieving precise and automated management and reducing manual intervention costs.
In addition, micro-flush technology reduces water usage to inhibit bacterial growth and reduce odor production at the source; air blowers (floor dryers) accelerate floor drying to reduce odor residue and can be used as auxiliary means to enhance odor removal effectiveness.
