Mobile Toilet Occupancy Display
Admin September 29, 2026
Abnormal display of 'Occupied/Vacant' in mobile toilets is usually caused by sensor misjudgment, circuit failure, or door lock linkage failure, which can be troubleshot by checking the sensors, power supply, and wiring.

Display Principle and Core Equipment
The 'Occupied/Vacant' display in mobile toilets relies on an intelligent sensing system, primarily composed of sensors, indicator lights, or display screens.
- Sensor Types:
- Laser Sensors: These determine status by emitting a laser beam and detecting if it is obstructed. If the laser path is interfered with by foreign objects (such as dust or flying insects), it may misjudge as 'Occupied'.
- Infrared Sensors: These rely on human body heat sources to trigger signals, but are prone to false alarms when the ambient temperature is close to that of the human body (such as in hot weather or heated environments).
- Microwave Radar Sensors: These emit radar waves and analyze the reflected waves. If there are metallic objects or moving objects (such as a rotating ventilation fan) inside the toilet cubicle, it may interfere with the judgment.
- Display Methods:
- LED Indicator Lights: These switch between red and green, with red representing 'Occupied' and green representing 'Vacant'. Some support switching between Chinese and English (such as 'Occupied/Vacant').
- Display Screens: These directly display text or symbols. Some systems are linked with the door lock, automatically switching to 'Occupied' when the door is locked.
Common Causes of Display Abnormalities
- Sensor Misjudgment:
- Laser or infrared sensors are blocked by dust or flying insects, or the ambient temperature interferes with infrared sensing.
- Microwave radar sensors are interfered with by metallic objects or moving objects, causing continuous transmission of 'Occupied' signals.
- Circuit Failure:
- Loose, short-circuited, or broken connections between the sensors and indicator lights/display screens, resulting in interrupted signal transmission.
- Unstable power supply voltage (such as abnormal 12V power supply), affecting the normal operation of the equipment.
- Door Lock Linkage Failure:
- If the display system is linked with the door lock, and the door lock is not properly closed or the sensor does not detect the locked state, incorrect information may be displayed.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting Recommendations
- Regularly Clean the Sensors: Wipe the surface of the laser or infrared sensors with a dry cloth to avoid dust accumulation.
- Check the Power Supply and Wiring: Confirm that the power supply voltage is stable (such as 12V), and check that the wiring connections are secure, without damage or short circuits.
- Test the Door Lock Linkage: Manually close the door lock and observe whether the display status switches synchronously. If not, check the linkage module.
- Replace Faulty Equipment: If the sensors or display modules are damaged, contact the supplier (such as Hebei Botou Lin Yue Railway Vehicle Accessories Co., Ltd.) to replace the parts.
Extended Functions and Applicable Scenarios
Some systems support music prompts, ventilation fan linkage, or custom music. Accessories include magnetic sensors, power supplies, speakers, etc., and are suitable for public places such as mobile public toilets, semi-outdoor restrooms, train stations, and scenic spots.
