What Are the Best Materials for Mobile Toilets

Admin September 27, 2026

The selection of materials for mobile toilets should be based on a comprehensive consideration of factors such as usage scenarios, cost, and durability. Below is an analysis of commonly used materials and their applicable scenarios:

1. Metal Materials

  • Aluminum Alloy: As a mainstream choice for skeletons and frames, it is lightweight (3-5kg/m²), highly corrosion-resistant, and has excellent anti-rust properties after oxidation or fluorocarbon spraying treatment on its surface. It is also easy to process and shape. It is suitable for temporary scenarios requiring quick assembly and disassembly (such as exhibitions and music festivals) and can be paired with PVC board for interior decoration, balancing cost and portability.
  • Stainless Steel: Mainly used for interior hardware (water tanks, water pipes), door hinges, and exterior finishes, it is extremely corrosion-resistant and suitable for coastal, high-humidity, or chemically corrosive environments (such as areas around chemical plants). However, it has a higher cost (about 1.5-2 times that of aluminum alloy) and is difficult to process, usually only used for small-area components.

2. Plastic/Composite Materials

  • PVC Board: Commonly used for interior partitions, wall panels, and ceiling panels, it is waterproof, moisture-proof, easy to clean, and can have patterns printed on its surface to enhance aesthetics. It is also low-cost (50-150 yuan/m²) and suitable for large-scale applications. Products that meet environmental standards such as RoHS should be selected to avoid long-term exposure to high-temperature environments.
  • Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP): Composed of resin and glass fiber, it has strength close to that of steel but weighs only 1/4-1/3 as much. It is corrosion-resistant and aging-resistant, suitable for use as an outer shell or overall structure. However, its surface is easily scratched, repair costs are high, and regular maintenance is required. Prices vary greatly depending on size and craftsmanship (ranging from several thousand to tens of thousands of yuan).
  • High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Board: With high strength, impact resistance, and UV resistance, it is commonly used for bottom and exterior decorations, priced at about 200-500 yuan/m², and suitable for long-term outdoor use scenarios (such as parks and scenic spots).

3. Wood Materials

  • Preservative-Treated Wood: After pressure treatment, it can be used for interior decoration or exterior frames. It has a natural texture and is easy to process, but requires regular application of preservative coatings and may deform in high-humidity environments. It is generally used in scenic spots, homestays, and other scenarios with high aesthetic requirements and is not recommended as a structural material.
  • Eco-Wood: Composed of wood powder and plastic, it has better waterproof and insect-resistant properties than natural wood, but has poor heat resistance and should avoid long-term exposure to sunlight. Its price is about 1.2-1.5 times that of preservative-treated wood and is suitable for scenarios with limited budgets and a pursuit of a natural style.

4. Other Materials

  • Rock Wool Sandwich Panel: Used for ceiling panels or partition walls, it is filled with rock wool (density ≥ 80kg/m³) inside, which effectively provides sound insulation and heat insulation, and has a fire rating of Class A. It is suitable for crowded areas (such as stations and squares).
  • High-Quality Galvanized Square Tube + Galvanized Steel Sheet: After welding the main body, the surface is sprayed with plastic at high temperatures, providing corrosion and rust resistance and a smooth appearance, suitable for scenarios with high requirements for durability and aesthetics.
  • Bamboo-Wood Fiber Board: Can be used for wall decoration, is environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing, but requires attention to moisture-proof treatment and is suitable for indoor or semi-outdoor environments.

Usage Scenario Recommendations:

  • Temporary Events: Aluminum alloy frame + PVC board (portable, low-cost, easy to assemble and disassemble).
  • Long-Term Outdoor Use: FRP outer shell + HDPE board decoration (corrosion-resistant, aging-resistant).
  • High-Humidity/Coastal Areas: Stainless steel hardware + preservative-treated wood decoration (balance between rust prevention and aesthetics).
  • Crowded Areas: Rock wool sandwich panel partition walls (sound insulation, heat insulation, fire prevention).
