Mobile Toilet Live Broadcast

Admin October 08, 2026

The situation where the toilet process in mobile toilets is like a 'live broadcast' due to transparent windows does exist, which infringes on the privacy rights of users. Relevant departments should take timely measures to address this issue.

Incident Details

According to reports, on February 5 in Henan, a woman filmed the embarrassing scene of citizens using mobile toilets. Due to the lack of any遮挡 (obstruction/cover, here we use 'obstruction' for better context in English) on the transparent upper windows of the toilets, actions such as pulling up pants and adjusting clothes were clearly visible from the outside. Moreover, there were many people waiting outside the toilets, making the situation extremely embarrassing. This reflects serious problems in the design and use of mobile toilets, failing to adequately protect the privacy of users.

Infringement of Privacy Rights

From a legal perspective, transparent public toilets infringe on citizens' privacy rights. Privacy is one of the fundamental rights of citizens, encompassing the protection of personal life tranquility and private information secrets from illegal intrusion, knowledge, collection, utilization, and disclosure by others. Using a mobile toilet is a private act, and transparent windows expose this act to the public eye, seriously violating the privacy of users.

Responsibilities of Management

The management of public toilets should assume corresponding management obligations. The management has the responsibility to ensure that the design and use of mobile toilets meet the requirements for protecting the privacy of users. If the rights of toilet users are impaired due to poor management, the management should bear civil compensation liabilities. This is not only compensation for the victims but also a punishment for the management's negligence, prompting them to strengthen management and prevent similar incidents from happening again.

Solutions

To address this issue, relevant departments should promptly install curtains or other obstructions on mobile toilet facilities to protect the privacy of users. At the same time, during the design and procurement process of mobile toilets, full consideration should be given to privacy protection factors, avoiding the use of transparent materials or setting transparent windows. Additionally, supervision and management of public toilet management should be strengthened to ensure they fulfill their management obligations and provide a safe and comfortable toilet environment for citizens.
