How to Insulate Mobile Toilets

Admin September 21, 2026

Insulation of mobile toilets can be achieved through basic insulation, pipe anti-freezing measures, active heating systems, and other auxiliary methods.

Basic Insulation

Adopt a double-layer wall structure, such as a composite design with an outer layer of color-coated steel plate and an inner layer of fireproof board, filled with a 5cm-thick layer of polyurethane foam or rock wool insulation. Its thermal conductivity is as low as 0.024W/(m·K), providing three times better insulation performance than traditional materials. Windows and doors are sealed with EPDM rubber strips, and ventilation openings are upgraded to temperature-controlled louver devices, reducing heat loss by over 60%. The drainage system requires special treatment, with expanded perlite filled around the trap of the squat toilet and the drainage pipes wrapped with a 50mm-thick insulation layer to form a three-dimensional insulation system, preventing heat loss through the pipes.

Pipe Anti-Freezing

Wrap the pipes with self-regulating heating cables (power: 8W/M) and equip them with an intelligent temperature control box. When the sensor detects a temperature below 5℃, the system automatically activates. The aluminum foil heat conduction layer ensures that a total power of 75W can maintain the pipe surface temperature above 5℃ in an environment of -15℃. All pipelines are covered with rubber insulating sleeves, and critical joints such as valves are layered with double insulation materials to further reduce the risk of freezing and cracking.

Active Heating Systems

  • Electric Heating Solution: Install PTC ceramic heating plates on the walls of the toilet area, which can raise the temperature by 15℃ within 5 minutes, with the surface temperature controlled below 60℃ for safety and energy efficiency. The air conditioning system is equipped with temperature sensors for automatic constant temperature control.
  • Fuel-Fired Hot Air System (for extreme climates as a backup): A fuel-fired hot air blower with a power of 30,000kcal/h evenly distributes air through ducts, raising the temperature of a 5㎡ space by 15℃ within 30 minutes, suitable for extreme weather below -20℃.
  • Municipal Heat Source Utilization: Scenic spots with conditions can connect to a centralized heating system, using radiators to provide continuous and stable heating, reducing operating costs.

Other Measures

Some mobile toilets adopt thicker wall designs that combine insulation and heat insulation functions, with the front hand-washing area also providing auxiliary insulation. Additionally, installing radiators ensures that water pipes do not freeze in environments as cold as -10℃ to -20℃, ensuring normal use.
