Classification of Mobile Toilet Industry

Admin September 21, 2026

The mobile toilet industry can be classified from multiple dimensions, including structural form, mobility method, sewage treatment method, market form, structural function and applicable scenarios, and application scenarios.

In terms of structural form, there are single-structure mobile toilets and composite-structure mobile toilets. Single-structure toilets are relatively simple and independent, while composite-structure toilets may be composed of multiple parts and have more complex and diverse functions.

Based on mobility method, there are lifting and handling mobile toilets, which mainly rely on lifting equipment or manual handling for position movement; and powered and towed mobile toilets. Powered toilets can provide their own mobility power, while towed toilets need to be towed by other vehicles.

According to sewage treatment method, mobile toilets can be divided into water-flush and non-water-flush suction mobile toilets, and circulating water-flush mobile toilets. Water-flush toilets maintain hygiene through water flow flushing; non-water-flush suction toilets rely on suction equipment to handle excreta; and circulating water-flush toilets recycle flushing water to achieve water conservation.

Based on the domestic circulation market form and the FMI 2025 global portable sanitary ware category classification standard, in the domestic market, there are basic simple portable toilets, which are integrally formed using PE environmentally friendly plastics and have the best portability; there are also packaged and self-storing clean water and sewage models that form a price gradient. In overseas markets, high-end细分 (sub-categories) such as vehicle-mounted pull-out, elderly care barrier-free, and biodegradable environmentally friendly models have emerged.

From the perspectives of structure, function, and applicable scenarios, ordinary mobile toilets have a simple structure and are suitable for temporary venues; mobile toilets with water-flush systems are suitable for occasions with high hygiene requirements; environmentally friendly mobile toilets use water-saving or renewable energy technologies and are suitable for venues with strict environmental requirements; and smart mobile toilets integrate multiple smart devices and are commonly found in high-end venues.

Based on application scenarios, urban public mobile toilets need to be equipped with barrier-free facilities and intelligent management systems; those in tourist attractions need to blend in with the surrounding environment; those on construction sites focus on weather resistance and ease of cleaning; those for large-scale events emphasize quick installation and convenient transportation; and those for emergency relief require lightweight, foldable designs with antibacterial and leak-proof properties.
