Mobile Toilet Handrail Height Requirements

Admin October 08, 2026

The height requirements for handrails in mobile toilets vary depending on their type and purpose, with specific standards as follows:

Barrier-free single-layer handrails: The height should be set between 850 mm and 900 mm. This height range is suitable for most scenarios requiring barrier-free facilities, such as mobile toilets in public places, ensuring that users can easily grasp them and providing stable support.

Barrier-free double-layer handrails: The height of the upper handrail is the same as that of the single-layer handrail, ranging from 850 mm to 900 mm, while the height of the lower handrail should be set between 650 mm and 700 mm. The design of double-layer handrails aims to meet the needs of people of different heights and usage requirements, providing more user-friendly services.

Handrails on both sides of urinals: Horizontal safety grab bars with a length of 550 mm should be installed on both sides of urinals, with a height of 900 mm from the ground. This design helps users maintain balance while urinating, preventing accidents such as slipping.

Handrails beside toilet seats: If the height of the toilet seat is approximately 40 cm, a general handrail height between 50 cm and 60 cm is more appropriate. However, for toilets used by disabled or elderly individuals, horizontal handrails with a height of approximately 700 mm should be installed on both sides of the toilet seat, and vertical handrails with a height of approximately 1400 mm should be installed on the wall side. This design meets the needs of different users, providing more comprehensive support and protection.

Handrails beside washbasins: The height of handrails beside washbasins is generally set at around 850 mm. This height is convenient for users to grasp and does not affect the normal use of the washbasin, making it one of the common handrail heights in mobile toilets.
