Recommendation to Avoid Using Anti-Slip Tiles in Mobile Toilets
Admin October 09, 2026
It is not recommended to use anti-slip tiles in mobile toilets; alternatives such as terrazzo, professional wall panel materials, and waterproof bathroom paint can be considered. The following is an analysis of the reasons and alternative materials:

Limitations of Anti-Slip Tiles
- Difficult to Clean: The uneven textures or granular designs on anti-slip tiles easily trap dirt, hair, and scale. The humid environment of bathrooms accelerates the penetration of soap and shampoo residues into the tile grout, forming stubborn stains and fostering mold growth. Frequent use of strong cleaning agents is required for cleaning, increasing maintenance costs.
- Insufficient Comfort: The hard and rough surface provides a poor barefoot walking experience, with a noticeable cold feeling in winter. Uneven areas tend to accumulate water, leaving water marks after wet feet step on them, affecting the sense of dryness.
- Limited Aesthetics: Anti-slip tiles mainly feature rough textures, with limited color and pattern options, making it difficult to match modern minimalist or high-end decor styles. The granular surface and grout lines result in an uneven overall appearance, conflicting with the cleanliness expected in bathrooms.
- Overestimated Anti-Slip Effect: While they offer strong friction in dry conditions, their anti-slip performance significantly decreases in wet conditions (e.g., when soaked with soap or grease), posing safety hazards.
- Low Cost-Effectiveness: High-quality anti-slip tiles (such as high-grade rustic tiles) cost between 50-150 yuan per square meter, higher than ordinary glazed tiles (30-100 yuan per square meter). Considering cleaning difficulty and comfort, they do not offer good cost-effectiveness.
Recommended Alternative Materials
- Terrazzo: Produced through casting or panel processes, on-site casting and grinding ensure raw material quality. After waxing and polishing, it offers a high-end texture with rich patterns, suitable for retro-style mobile toilets, but requires a higher budget and construction effort.
- Professional Wall Panel Materials: For floors, Tori composite plastic roll materials are recommended, featuring a highly durable antibacterial UV resin coating that provides a soft foot feel, is slip-resistant, wear-resistant, and easy to clean, requiring no waxing maintenance. For walls, Japanese Ricai wall panels (PVC resin material) can be selected, offering excellent thermal insulation and slip resistance, but at a price more than double that of tiles.
- Waterproof Bathroom Paint: Priced lower than tiles of the same grade, it can be applied in the toilet and washbasin areas, enhancing spatial layering through color matching while reducing the budget, suitable for scenarios with limited budgets and a preference for minimalist styles.
Selection Advice: If durability and a high-end feel are prioritized, terrazzo is the top choice; if slip resistance and ease of cleaning are important, composite plastic roll materials are recommended; if cost control is necessary and non-tile materials are acceptable, waterproof bathroom paint offers good cost-effectiveness.
