How to Treat Feces in Mobile Toilets

Admin September 24, 2026

There are various ways to treat feces in mobile toilets, mainly categorized into the following types based on different types and technical characteristics:

  1. Combination of Chemical and Mechanical Treatment Chemical agents are added to decompose organic matter in the excreta, suppress odors, and accelerate the decomposition process. The treated liquid can be further purified through specialized equipment or directly discharged into the sewage system. Some mechanical treatment equipment incorporates solid-liquid separation technology, compressing solid residues for centralized treatment and disinfecting the liquid portion before discharge to reduce environmental pollution.

  2. Biodegradation Technology

    • Anaerobic Digestion: Microorganisms are used to decompose excreta in an oxygen-free environment, producing biogas (usable for energy) and organic fertilizer (usable for agriculture). This method significantly reduces fecal volume, extends the treatment cycle, and is suitable for long-term use in mobile toilets.
    • Microbial Treatment: After entering the solid-liquid separation device, urine is filtered into the treatment system, while feces are decomposed by microorganisms in the fermentation tank into carbon dioxide and water, with a degradation rate of over 99%, achieving harmless treatment.
  3. Resource Recycling Type

    • Recirculating Water Flush Type: Through intermittent aerobic and anaerobic treatment devices, biological strains are added to accelerate fermentation and decomposition. The treated water is filtered and recirculated for toilet flushing, significantly reducing water consumption and suction frequency.
    • Dry Packaging Type: Biodegradable plastic bags are used to collect excreta, with a new bag automatically replaced after each use. The waste is collected and transported to a treatment plant, preventing sewage leakage and facilitating transportation.
  4. Physical Storage and Regular Cleaning

    • Compression Storage: Compression equipment is used to reduce the volume of excreta, delaying the need for treatment, suitable for wilderness or long-term scenarios without treatment facilities.
    • Multi-functional Sewage Outlets and Fecal Storage Tanks: Equipped with manual cleaning functions, such as buried septic tanks or fecal storage tanks, which require regular cleaning and centralized treatment by professionals to ensure hygiene.
    • Regular Suction and Centralized Treatment: When the sewage tank is full, it is suctioned by a sewage suction truck and transported to a specialized treatment center for harmless treatment, with some converted into organic fertilizer or used for resource recycling.
  5. Water-saving Special Design

    • Foam Sealing Type: Foaming liquid is used instead of flushing water, with foam covering the toilet to prevent odor diffusion, requiring only a small amount of hand-washing water to maintain foaming, maximizing water conservation.
    • Water Flush Type and Waterless Suction Type: The former flushes excreta into the sewage tank through a water flushing device, while the latter directly collects it into the sewage tank. Both require regular suction to prevent overflow.

When choosing a treatment method, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the usage scenario, environmental requirements, cost, and maintenance convenience. For example, dry packaging or compression storage is suitable for wilderness camping; recirculating water flush or microbial treatment can be prioritized for urban event venues; and anaerobic digestion or regular suction modes are suitable for long-term fixed mobile toilets.
