How to Handle Feces in Mobile Toilets
Admin October 09, 2026
There are various ways to handle feces in mobile toilets, including direct discharge and feces tanks, water-flushing, chemical treatment, anaerobic digestion, compression and storage, multi-functional drainage outlets with manual cleaning, mechanical treatment, and waterless suction-type methods.

- Direct Discharge and Feces Tanks: Some mobile toilets use direct discharge methods, where sewage is directly discharged into municipal sewage networks or septic tanks through pipes. This method is suitable for areas with well-established sewage systems. Other mobile toilets use feces tanks to store excreta, which need to be cleaned regularly. The cleaned feces can be transported to professional treatment facilities for centralized treatment.
- Water-Flushing: Water-flushing mobile toilets use water-flushing devices to discharge sewage into sewage systems, such as municipal sewage networks or septic tanks. This treatment method must comply with relevant national standards, such as the "Urban Public Toilet Design Standard CJJ14 - 2016". Additionally, septic tanks should be cleaned regularly to prevent blockages and odors, ensuring the normal operation of the system.
- Chemical Treatment: Chemical agents are added to mobile toilets to decompose excreta, effectively controlling odors and promoting the decomposition process. The treated excreta can be further processed through specialized equipment or sewage systems to meet environmental protection requirements.
- Anaerobic Digestion: Microorganisms are used to decompose excreta, producing biogas and fertilizer in an anaerobic environment. Biogas can be used as an energy source, while fertilizer can be used in agriculture or horticulture. This method is suitable for scenarios where the treatment facility is away for extended periods, such as field operations.
- Compression and Storage: Compression equipment is used to reduce the volume of excreta, thereby delaying treatment needs. This treatment method is suitable for camping or field construction sites, reducing cleaning frequency and improving convenience of use.
- Multi-functional Drainage Outlets with Manual Cleaning: Mobile toilets equipped with feces tanks or pre-buried septic tanks require regular manual cleaning. Cleaning personnel collect the feces and transport them to appropriate treatment facilities for processing.
- Mechanical Treatment: Specialized equipment is used for solid-liquid separation, decomposition, and disinfection of excreta. This treatment method reduces environmental impact, ensures hygiene and safety, and is suitable for places with high hygiene requirements.
- Waterless Suction-Type: The sewage tank at the bottom of the toilet directly receives excreta, which needs to be cleaned regularly using suction equipment. The circulating water-flushing type accelerates fermentation and decomposition through anaerobic treatment devices and biological strains, reducing the frequency of suction and improving usage efficiency.
