Mobile Toilet Ecology
Mobile toilet ecology is a sustainable sanitation facility system centered around environmental protection technology, achieving harmless treatment of excreta through resource recycling and adapting to various scenarios.

Technical Principles and Types
The core technologies of mobile toilet ecology include solid-liquid separation and microbial decomposition. Taking ecological public toilets as an example, they decompose feces into carbon dioxide, water, and organic fertilizer through microbial communities, achieving harmless treatment. Initially, 70-80 kilograms of water are required to activate the microbial communities, and subsequent operation does not require water flushing, resulting in a water-saving rate exceeding 90%. Additionally, waterless sanitation toilets use physical, biological, or chemical technologies to replace traditional water flushing. Common types include mechanical packaging, microbial degradation, foam sealing, vacuum suction, and chemical agent types. For example, foam-sealing toilets cover the surface of excreta with foaming liquid to block odors, while vacuum-suction toilets use negative pressure to quickly collect waste, both without requiring large amounts of water.
Structural and Functional Advantages
The housing design of mobile toilet ecology balances durability and adaptability. Steel-frame cement composite structures offer excellent thermal insulation, with a service life of over 20 years. Some models are equipped with intelligent temperature control systems, operating at temperatures exceeding 60°C for sterilization and disinfection. For instance, the carbon-neutral public toilets deployed in Chengdu in 2024 can operate in environments as cold as -28°C, with stable steel-frame support. Modular assembly technology further expands application scenarios, allowing toilets exceeding transportation dimensions to be assembled by connecting modules such as halls and management rooms, flexibly adapting to temporary sites like construction sites and exhibitions.
Application Scenarios and Benefits
This technology is widely applicable in arid regions, ecological protection areas, natural scenic spots, urban parks, and temporary venues. During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, 13 venues adopted ecological public toilet technology, reducing the construction cost per toilet seat by 100,000 yuan compared to traditional water toilets. The carbon-neutral public toilets in Chengdu save over 3,000 tons of water annually and have annual maintenance costs of only 15,000 yuan. Their advantages lie in zero pollution, zero odor, and resource recycling (such as composting), and they can operate in harsh environments without water supply, drainage, or even electricity, providing low-cost, sustainable sanitation solutions for scenarios like rural revitalization and organic farms.
