Mobile Toilet Dry Latrine Warmth

Admin September 28, 2026

The warmth of mobile toilet dry latrines can be achieved through comprehensive measures such as wall insulation, pipeline antifreeze, heating equipment configuration, and material optimization. The specific solutions are as follows:

1. Wall Insulation Structure Design

Adopting a 'sandwich layer' composite wall is the core means to enhance insulation performance. For example, the outer layer selects metal carved panels (with both windproof and decorative properties), the middle layer is filled with a 50mm thick rock wool insulation layer (with low thermal conductivity and strong flame retardancy), and the inner layer uses fireproof boards (to enhance structural stability). Such a design can achieve an indoor-outdoor temperature difference of over 25℃ in extreme environments of -35℃, effectively blocking the infiltration of cold air. After adopting a similar structure in the rural dry latrine renovation project in Datong, the applicable temperature range was extended to -30℃-40℃, verifying its reliability.

2. Pipeline and Toilet Antifreeze Technology

The pipeline system requires key protection:

  • Self-limiting heating cables: Wrapped around the outer wall of the water supply pipe, they intelligently control the temperature (within the range of 5-15℃) through temperature sensors to prevent low-temperature freezing;
  • Squat toilet trap: Heated with an 8W/M heating cable and filled with expanded perlite (with a thermal conductivity of ≤0.03W/m·K) for insulation, forming double protection;
  • Drainage pipe slope optimization: Ensure rapid drainage of sewage to reduce the risk of residual water in the pipe freezing.

3. Heating Equipment Configuration

Select heating methods according to usage scenarios:

  • Air conditioning system: Suitable for scenarios with a high density of people or frequent use, it can quickly adjust the indoor temperature;
  • Municipal heating interface: In areas with centralized heating conditions, directly connect to the heat source to reduce operating costs;
  • Electric heater assistance: As temporary or supplementary heating, attention should be paid to power matching and electrical safety.

4. Material Selection and Optimization

Prioritize the use of materials with excellent insulation performance:

  • Wall materials: Color-coated steel plates (lightweight and durable), metal carved panels (windproof and insulating), anti-corrosion wood (natural insulation), or aluminum-plastic panels (moisture-proof and corrosion-resistant);
  • Floor materials: Lay extruded polystyrene boards (XPS, with a thermal conductivity of ≤0.028W/m·K) under anti-slip floor tiles to reduce heat loss;
  • Door and window sealing: Use double-glazed windows and silicone sealing strips to reduce air convection heat loss.

5. Special Scenario Recommendations

For mobile toilets of the dry latrine type without treatment equipment, the antifreeze effect is limited. It is recommended to prioritize the selection of ecological toilets with treatment equipment (such as microbial degradation types), or purchase products equipped with a complete electric heating cable system from regular manufacturers to ensure full-link antifreeze from the wall to the pipeline.
