Mobile Toilet Disinfection Methods

Admin September 22, 2026

The disinfection methods for mobile toilets mainly include physical disinfection and chemical disinfection, with specific operations and precautions as follows:

Physical Disinfection

  1. High-Temperature Disinfection
Use a steam generator to produce high-temperature steam (usually exceeding 100°C) and spray it on surfaces such as toilets and sinks. High-temperature steam can penetrate the cell walls of microorganisms, effectively killing bacteria and viruses, and is particularly suitable for metal or heat-resistant surfaces.

  2. Ultraviolet Disinfection
Install ultraviolet disinfection lamps inside the mobile toilet, selecting the UVC band with a wavelength of 254nm, and turn them on during periods when the toilet is not in use. Ultraviolet light inactivates microorganisms by destroying their DNA structure. Ensure that the exposure time is no less than 30 minutes and that there are no obstructions on the equipment surfaces. After disinfection, turn off the ultraviolet lamps to avoid harm to humans.

Chemical Disinfection

  1. Chlorine-Based Disinfectants

    • 84 Disinfectant/Bleaching Powder: Dilute in a ratio of 1:100 to 1:200 and use a sprayer to thoroughly spray the floor, walls, toilets, etc. Allow it to act for 30 minutes to 1 hour before rinsing off the residue with clean water.
    • Sodium Hypochlorite: Prepare a solution with an effective chlorine content of 500-1000mg/L, spray it, and maintain it for 30 minutes, suitable for high-frequency contact areas.
  2. Peracetic Acid
Dilute to a concentration of 0.5%-1% and spray or wipe surfaces. Its strong oxidizing properties can quickly kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi. After application, rinse the surfaces with clean water to avoid corrosion of equipment.

  3. Alcohol Disinfection
For high-frequency contact areas such as door handles and faucets, use 75% alcohol to wipe surfaces. Alcohol evaporates quickly and does not require rinsing, but pay attention to fire safety.

  4. Chlorine Dioxide
Dissolve at a dose of 5-10mg per cubic meter of water and spray it, allowing it to act for 30 minutes. The decomposition products of chlorine dioxide are non-toxic, making it suitable for disinfecting enclosed spaces.

Precautions

  • Personnel Safety: Ensure that the toilet is unoccupied during disinfection, wear masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and avoid direct contact with disinfectants.
  • Ventilation: After disinfection, ventilate the toilet for at least 30 minutes to reduce the concentration of residual disinfectants, preventing irritation to the respiratory tract or corrosion of equipment.
  • Regular Maintenance: It is recommended to disinfect after daily cleaning. In high-frequency usage scenarios (such as exhibitions and construction sites), increase the frequency and record the disinfection time and method.
  • Equipment Compatibility: Avoid long-term use of highly corrosive disinfectants (such as peracetic acid) on metal and plastic materials, and prioritize neutral or low-corrosive products.

By combining physical and chemical methods, the pathogenic microorganisms inside mobile toilets can be comprehensively controlled, ensuring public health and safety.
