What Category Does the Cost of Mobile Toilets Fall Under

Admin October 11, 2026

The classification of mobile toilet costs depends on the specific scenario, with different scenarios leading to different cost categorizations.

In the field of engineering budgeting, the cost of mobile toilets is typically included in the 'temporary facilities fee' under the civilized construction fee. According to the 2024 'Standard for Valuation with Bill of Quantities of Construction Works' (GB/T50500-2024), after the decomposition of the original 'safety and civilized construction fee', the cost of mobile toilets is clearly classified under the 'temporary facilities fee'. This fee covers expenses such as purchase, rental, erection, maintenance, and removal. The temporary facilities fee is the cost incurred for constructing temporary facilities to meet construction needs in engineering budgets. As a sanitary facility providing convenience for workers on construction sites, mobile toilets fall within the scope of temporary facilities, and thus their costs are naturally included in the temporary facilities fee.

In the scenario of corporate purchase, if a company purchases mobile toilets as long-term operational facilities, according to accounting standards, due to their relatively high value and a service life exceeding one year, they should be recorded under the 'fixed assets' account. Fixed assets are tangible assets held by enterprises for the production of goods, provision of labor services, renting, or business management, with a service life exceeding one accounting year. Mobile toilets meet the definition of fixed assets. After purchase, companies manage them as long-term assets and gradually allocate their costs through depreciation.

In the scenario of contractual agreement, if a construction project contract explicitly stipulates that the cost of mobile toilets is included in the safety and civilized construction fee (safety measures fee) or the temporary facilities fee, then it should be handled according to the contract. A contract is an agreement between two parties to establish, modify, or terminate civil relations and has legal effect. In construction projects, contractual provisions regarding costs take precedence, and both parties should fulfill their respective obligations in accordance with the contract. If the contract clearly specifies the classification of mobile toilet costs, then cost categorization and handling should be carried out in accordance with the contract.
