Mobile Toilet Construction Process
Admin October 09, 2026
The construction process of mobile toilets can be divided into two typical cases according to different design requirements, with specific steps as follows:

Case 1: Portable Toilet Transformed from a Water Storage Drum
Basic Structure Construction
- Cut the water storage drum in half along the centerline using an angle grinder, and select one half as the main body. Install universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board to form a movable base.
- Reinforce the upper side of the drum with wooden strips and self-tapping screws to raise the overall height to an appropriate range (usually 1.8-2 meters). Cut a door opening on the side and install sponge strips to create a sealed door frame structure.
Wall and Roof Installation
- Insert plastic soft boards as elevated walls to ensure privacy. Invert the upper half of the water storage drum as the roof and fix it to the top of the walls with screws.
- Drill a hole at the bottom to install a drain pipe, forming a floor drain system. Drill a hole on the side to connect a direct joint for the extension of the sewage pipe.
Sanitary Facility Installation
- Fix the toilet and seal it with glue, connecting the drain pipe to an external sewage drum. Install a water tank and divert the water pipe through a three-way joint to the doorway as the inlet pipe for the washbasin.
- Drill a hole in the door to install a faucet joint, completing the basic functional configuration.
Case 2: Construction Site-Specific Toilet Combining a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet
Mobile Frame Fabrication
- Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of a plastic pallet and place a recycled water storage tank as a sewage container.
- Cut the top of the water storage tank with an angle grinder to form an open tank. Stack two tanks and fix them with self-tapping screws to increase the sewage storage capacity.
Space and Pipe Layout
- Cut a rectangular doorway with a height of 180 cm and a width of 50 cm. Drill a hole in the interior floor to install an elbow and a water pipe, forming a sewage discharge channel.
- Fix the toilet and seal it with glue. Install a faucet and a stainless-steel washbasin, connecting the drain pipe to the water storage tank.
Functional Expansion and Detail Refinement
- Connect the inlet pipe of the toilet water tank and the shower hose, and install a spray-type showerhead (suitable for simple shower scenarios).
- Make a door panel with wooden boards and hinges, and install a door handle to ensure easy opening and closing.
Key Considerations:
- Material selection should take into account both durability and environmental friendliness. For example, plastic water storage tanks should be corrosion-resistant, and wooden boards should be moisture-proof.
- The sealing process (such as glass glue and self-tapping screw fixation) directly affects the user experience and should ensure no leakage.
- The dimensions of the mobile toilet should be designed according to ergonomic principles. The height of the door opening should generally be no less than 180 cm, and the width should be no less than 50 cm.
- The sewage system should be cleaned regularly. In construction site scenarios, it can be paired with a septic tank or regular pumping services.
