Construction Method of Mobile Toilet

Admin October 11, 2026

Mobile toilets can be homemade using materials such as water storage barrels. Here is a specific construction method:

I. Construction of the Basic Framework

  1. Modification of the Water Storage Barrel: Use an angle grinder to split the water storage barrel vertically in the middle, creating two semi-circular barrel bodies. Choose one of them as the main body and install universal wheels at the four corners of the wooden board to ensure mobility.
  2. Height Reinforcement: Take several wooden strips and fix them to the upper edge of the barrel body with self-tapping screws to form a circular support structure. This step increases the internal height of the toilet and provides a foundation for the subsequent installation of walls.

II. Installation of Walls and Roof

  1. Wall Construction: Insert plastic soft panels between the wooden strips to form lightweight, waterproof walls. If structural stability needs to be enhanced, horizontal support strips can be added to the outer side of the wooden strips.
  2. Roof Installation: Invert the upper half of the split water storage barrel onto the top of the wooden strips to serve as the roof. To improve aesthetics, white waterproof paint can be applied to the surface of the wooden strips, protecting the wood from moisture damage.

III. Integration of Functional Modules

  1. Door Construction: Use foam strips to拼接 (join together) two discarded honeycomb wooden boards to form a simple door panel. Cut a door opening on the side of the water storage barrel and install sponge strips on both sides as the door frame to ensure a tight seal.
  2. Drainage System: Drill a hole at the bottom of the barrel body and install a drain pipe to form a floor drain. Drill a hole on the side and connect it to a direct joint, with an external plastic barrel serving as a water storage device for collecting flushing water.
  3. Installation of Sanitary Equipment:
    • Toilet: Fix the toilet above the drain pipe opening, install a water tank, and seal the connection with glass glue to prevent leakage.
    • Bath Heater and Shower: Use a water pipe to make a simple bath heater bracket. Install a three-way joint below the inlet pipe, with one end connected to the shower and the other end extending to the door as the water supply for the sink.
    • Sink: Install a simple sink on the outside of the door, with water supplied by a horizontally extended water pipe from the three-way joint. Connect a hose at the joint for easy adjustment.

IV. Classification and Expansion Instructions Mobile toilets can be classified by structural form into single-unit structures (independent units) and composite structures (modular combinations); by mobility into hoisting types and powered towing types; and by sewage treatment methods into water-flush types, non-water-flush suction types, and circulating water-flush types. Homemade mobile toilets can be adjusted according to needs, such as adding solar panels for power supply or using biodegradation technology to treat excrement, to adapt to different scenarios.
