Mobile Toilet Coagulant

Admin September 28, 2026

Mobile toilet coagulant is a functional material used for the collection and treatment of bodily fluids such as urine, widely applied in medical care, outdoor emergency response, and mobile sanitation fields. Its core function is to rapidly solidify liquids through physical or chemical actions, preventing leakage and the spread of odors while addressing the technical shortcomings of traditional materials.

Technical Development History

Early mobile toilet coagulants primarily relied on traditional absorbent materials such as sawdust, paper pulp, or mineral particles. These materials had significant drawbacks: low liquid absorption capacity (typically less than five times their own weight), requiring frequent replacement; heavy weight, making them inconvenient to carry; and susceptibility to leakage, especially when dealing with larger volumes of liquid, which they could not effectively lock in. With advancements in material science, superabsorbent polymers (SAPs, such as sodium polyacrylate) were introduced, increasing liquid absorption capacity to hundreds of times their own weight. However, they revealed three major technical bottlenecks:

  1. Electrolyte interference and gel blocking: Salts in urine (such as sodium and potassium ions) can disrupt the cross-linking structure of SAPs, leading to a decrease in absorption speed and even the formation of "fish-eye effects" (localized unabsorbed particles);
  2. Structural collapse and secondary pollution: After absorbing liquid, SAPs form a gel that is prone to collapsing under pressure or prolonged storage, releasing the locked-in liquid;
  3. Moisture absorption and caking, leading to functional failure: In high-humidity environments, SAPs can prematurely absorb moisture and cake, reducing their practical effectiveness.

New Technical Solutions

To address these issues, the current mainstream technology employs a four-dimensional synergistic approach of "organic absorbent network + inorganic shaping framework + chemical odor suppression system + surface modification additives":

  • Organic absorbent network: Using modified SAPs as the core, enhancing electrolyte resistance by introducing salt-tolerant groups (such as sulfonic acid groups);
  • Inorganic shaping framework: Adding nano-silica or bentonite to strengthen the stability of the gel structure and prevent collapse;
  • Chemical odor suppression system: Integrating plant extracts (such as tea polyphenols) or metal ions (such as silver and zinc) to decompose odor-causing substances like ammonia at the source;
  • Surface modification additives: Reducing moisture absorption and caking through hydrophobic coatings, extending shelf life.
    This solution enables instant urine solidification (within 5-10 seconds of contact), complete liquid locking (absorption capacity of 300-500 times), and source odor elimination (odor suppression rate exceeding 90%).

Market Products and Pricing

Currently, mobile toilet coagulants on the market come in various forms, including bagged coagulants (suitable for vehicle-mounted folding toilets) and portable solid particles (for outdoor camping). Prices vary widely, with single-use packs (e.g., 10g bags) starting as low as 0.12 yuan and large-capacity family packs (e.g., 500g cans) reaching up to 24.80 yuan. Some merchants offer services such as dropshipping and 48-hour express delivery to meet emergency needs.
