Is There a Charge for Mobile Toilets?

Admin September 28, 2026

Whether mobile toilets are charged depends on the situation, and the charging models vary significantly across different scenarios.

Rental scenarios require payment of rent and additional fees
In temporary usage scenarios such as event hosting, decoration construction, or outdoor operations, renting mobile toilets usually requires payment of rent. The daily rent for basic mobile toilets is approximately 50-100 yuan, suitable for small events or short-term construction projects; the daily rent for large-event-used connected toilets is 150-300 yuan, meeting high foot traffic demands; and the daily rent for high-end models reaches 300-500 yuan, equipped with independent compartments, air conditioning, and other facilities. In addition to rent, the lessee may need to bear a deposit (usually 1-2 times the rent), delivery fees (calculated based on distance), cleaning fees (charged according to usage duration or frequency), and consumable fees (such as toilet paper, hand sanitizer, etc.). For example, an event in Hunan rented 10 basic mobile toilets for 3 days, with a rent of approximately 1500-3000 yuan, and the total cost after adding delivery and cleaning fees may exceed 4000 yuan.

Public usage scenarios feature scan-to-pay models
Some mobile public toilets, due to insufficient public service facilities, adopt a market-oriented operation model. For example, the mobile toilets by the seaside in Jinfeng, Fujian, require users to scan a code and pay a single-use fee (usually 10 yuan), with the system setting a countdown to limit usage duration. Although these facilities are called 'public toilets,' they are not provided by urban public administrative departments; their charging purpose is to cover operating costs (such as cleaning, maintenance, utilities, etc.). It is worth noting that such paid public toilets are mostly found in tourist attractions, remote areas, or temporary event venues, contrasting with the free fixed public toilets in cities.

Purchase scenarios involve only one-time expenses
If users directly purchase mobile toilets, they do not need to pay usage fees but must bear the equipment procurement costs. The price of a simple mobile toilet is approximately 300 yuan, suitable for personal or temporary use; the price of a high-end customized model can reach 9000 yuan, equipped with intelligent flushing, deodorization systems, and other functions. After purchase, users are responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, and consumable replenishment of the equipment but do not need to pay usage fees to third parties. For example, rural areas purchase mobile toilets to improve sanitation conditions, making a one-time investment for long-term use without continuous payments.
