Differences Between Mobile Toilets and Sentry Boxes

Admin September 20, 2026

There are multiple differences between mobile toilets and sentry boxes when it comes to purchasing, mainly reflected in aspects such as frame structure, material selection, bottom waterproofing treatment, flexibility of functional configurations, thermal insulation performance, and suitability for usage scenarios and requirements.

  1. Frame Structure
The frame structure of a sentry box directly affects its wind and pressure resistance. Regular products use hot-dip galvanized square steel and ensure full and pore-free welding points through full-welding processes, enhancing structural stability. The frame of a mobile toilet is equally important, but low-priced products may use thin-walled steel pipes or cold-dip galvanized steel pipes, which are prone to deformation due to low temperatures in cold regions, affecting service life.

  2. Material Selection
The material selection for a sentry box needs to balance durability and aesthetics. For example, stainless steel exterior finishes are commonly used in residential communities, which are wear-resistant and easy to maintain. If the budget is limited for a factory gate sentry box, color-steel sandwich panels can be chosen, but it is necessary to ensure that the sandwich material is flame-retardant. Regular manufacturers usually select cold-rolled steel plates with a thickness of 0.8mm - 1.2mm and perform pickling and phosphating treatments before spraying. For mobile toilets, the focus of material selection is on bottom waterproofing treatment, as the materials and processes directly affect the anti-leakage effect.

  3. Bottom Waterproofing Treatment
Sentry boxes have relatively low requirements for bottom waterproofing, but they still need a certain degree of waterproofing treatment for long-term outdoor use. The bottom waterproofing of a mobile toilet is crucial, especially for double-occupancy products. If no waterproofing reinforcement is done, the bottom plate is prone to bulging and rotting. High-quality products usually use hot-dip galvanized channel steel for the chassis, lay multiple layers of waterproof boards, and seal the gaps with structural adhesive.

  4. Flexibility of Functional Configurations
The functional configurations of a sentry box need to be adjusted according to the usage scenario. For example, there are significant differences in the internal configurations between a smoking pavilion in a scenic area and a 24-hour manned gate sentry box. It is necessary to clarify whether insulation layers, air conditioning holes, and strong and weak current wiring are required. The functional configurations of a mobile toilet also need to be flexible. For example, in response to the severe cold climate in Northeast China, manufacturers can be required to install electric heaters, reserve thicker circuits, and use sliding windows.

  5. Thermal Insulation Performance
In cold regions, the thermal insulation performance of a sentry box needs to be achieved through wall structures, windows, and joint treatments. For example, using an 80801.2mm frame structure, filling it with high-density insulation materials, and using double-glazed windows. Thermal insulation is equally important for mobile toilets. If the thermal insulation performance is poor, it is easy to cause problems such as frozen water pipes and circuit failures.

  6. Suitability for Usage Scenarios and Requirements
Sentry boxes are commonly used in residential communities, scenic areas, industrial parks, and other scenarios, posing personalized requirements for appearance, internal layout, and water and electricity facilities, with a high proportion of customized projects. Mobile toilets, on the other hand, mainly serve scenarios such as sanitation, scenic areas, and communities, focusing on functions such as anti-seepage, ventilation and deodorization, and sewage diversion.
