Mobile Restroom for Scenic Areas
Mobile restrooms are widely used in scenic areas, featuring various types, functional characteristics, and numerous application examples.

Types and Structures
There are diverse types of mobile restrooms in scenic areas. The common fully movable restrooms generally consist of fecal sewage storage tanks (or disposal units), floor slabs, sanitary fixtures, walls, washing equipment, water tanks, roofs, and moving devices. There are also integrated mobile restrooms with showers, such as the products from Dezhou Hongtu Metal Products Co., Ltd. These feature an apple-pod shape, a galvanized steel frame, color-matching designs, a central public hand-washing area, separate sections for men and women, and two squatting positions with partitions in the men's restroom. Additionally, there are mobile restrooms made of anti-corrosion wood with a ridge-shaped design, grille treatment, a public hand-washing area, double-basin bathroom cabinets, and beauty mirrors, with two squatting positions and a urinal in the men's restroom.
Functional Characteristics
Mobile restrooms offer several significant advantages. High mobility: They can be easily transported to locations in scenic areas where they are needed and can be reused multiple times, providing convenience for scenic areas to flexibly adjust restroom positions in different areas according to tourist traffic. Good combinability: They can be combined according to the actual needs of scenic areas to meet the usage requirements of tourist groups of different sizes. Easy transportation: Their structural design facilitates loading, unloading, and transportation, reducing construction and maintenance costs. Some scenic areas are also trialing "tide restrooms" by setting up several "gender-neutral restroom stalls" and using movable signs or lockable sliding doors to dynamically adjust usage permissions based on real-time tourist traffic. Taking Qinghai Heidushan Scenic Area as an example, after the "tide restrooms" were put into use, the waiting time for women during peak hours was shortened from more than 30 minutes to less than 10 minutes, effectively alleviating the phenomenon of long queues for women's restrooms during tourist peaks.
Application Examples
In 2023, mobile restrooms were gradually installed and put into use in the Lanzhou Yellow River Scenic Line, providing convenient restroom conditions for tourists. Guangdong Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area once set up "tide restrooms", but due to issues such as the signs being easily moved and altered, leading to confusion between men's and women's restroom areas, the sliding signs were removed, and fixed slot-type doorplates are about to be installed.
