Service Life of Mobile Prefab Toilets

Admin October 12, 2026

The service life of mobile prefab toilets ranges from 3 years to over 20 years, depending on three main factors: material and craftsmanship, usage environment and intensity, and daily maintenance.

Material and craftsmanship are the core factors determining the basic service life:
Simple fiberglass models are prone to cracking and leakage after about 3 years of exposure to outdoor sunlight due to poor weather resistance, and are mostly used in short-term temporary scenarios. Conventional galvanized steel sheet/color-coated steel sheet are mainstream choices, with their service life closely related to the thickness of the steel and the anti-corrosion treatment process. Ordinary anti-rust paint may rust within one or two years in humid environments, while hot-dip galvanized or specially treated frame structures can maintain structural strength for more than five years, with an overall service life of over 10 years, adapting to extreme temperatures ranging from -30℃ to 50℃. Among color-coated steel mobile toilets, single-layer models without sandwich layers or those with foam sandwich layers have a relatively short service life (3-5 years) and are prone to rusting and deformation. Models with rock wool/glass wool sandwich layers have slightly better anti-corrosion properties, with a service life close to 8 years. Stainless steel/composite materials are mostly used for high-end customization or specific parts (such as washbasins), offering superior corrosion resistance and strength, making them the choice for pursuing an ultra-long service life.

Usage scenarios and environmental intensity directly affect the rate of service life depletion:
Long-term exposure to high-temperature sunlight, high humidity, coastal saline-alkali land, or extreme low temperatures accelerates material aging, paint fading, and metal rusting. In high-intensity usage scenarios (such as tourist attractions and transportation hubs), mechanical parts like door locks and flush buttons wear out much faster than in low-frequency scenarios. Taking color-coated steel mobile toilets as an example, those in dry, low-traffic scenarios (such as temporary warehouse areas) have a longer service life. Environments with high humidity, high salt spray (seaside), high corrosion (industrial areas), or extremely high traffic (construction sites, markets) accelerate panel rusting and part wear, potentially shortening the service life to less than 3 years.

Daily maintenance and upkeep awareness are key to extending the service life:
Proper maintenance can extend the service life of mobile toilets by 3-5 years, or even up to over 15 years; conversely, 'use without maintenance' can significantly shorten the service life. For example, regularly repainting with anti-rust paint, replacing sealants, and cleaning the sewage system in color-coated steel mobile toilets can extend the service life by 1-2 years; without maintenance, panel leakage and frame rusting may occur, potentially leading to scrapping within 3 years.
