Advantages and Disadvantages of Mobile Prefab Toilets
Admin September 22, 2026
The advantages and disadvantages of mobile prefab toilets (taking color-steel mobile toilets as an example) are as follows:

Advantages:
- Low cost: The price of color-steel plates (especially single-layer ones) is low. When combined with thin-walled steel frames, the overall cost is much lower than that of metal carved panel or steel-structure toilets. They are suitable for temporary scenarios with limited budgets, such as construction sites and short-term events.
- Lightweight and easy to transport: The main body is made of lightweight color-steel plates and thin-walled steel materials, with a low self-weight. They can be transported without large machinery and take up little space during transportation. They can be quickly deployed in batches to meet urgent needs.
- High installation efficiency: Most components are prefabricated and standardized. On-site assembly only requires self-tapping screws and sealant for fixation. A single toilet can be assembled in 1-2 days, making them suitable for scenarios with tight schedules.
- Basic functions meet requirements: They can meet the core needs of 'toileting and flushing'. They can be simply equipped with washbasins, exhaust fans, etc. The smooth surface is easy to clean, and daily maintenance is simple, making them suitable for high-frequency use scenarios.
- Wide range of appearance options: Color-steel plates come in a variety of colors (such as blue, white, gray, and other common colors). The basic appearance can be customized according to needs, which can match the visual requirements of most temporary venues and avoid a sense of incongruity.
Disadvantages:
- Poor durability: Single-layer color-steel plates have weak wind and impact resistance. Long-term exposure to the sun or rain can easily cause rusting and deformation. The thin-walled frame has limited load-bearing capacity and cannot withstand heavy objects or frequent collisions. The service life is usually only 3-8 years, much shorter than that of metal carved panel toilets.
- Poor thermal insulation: Single-layer color-steel plates have no insulation layer. The interior is stuffy in summer and cold in winter. The thermal insulation effect of foam-core color-steel plates is also far inferior to that of the polyurethane layer of metal carved panels, resulting in a poor user experience.
- Weak sealing and waterproofing: The joints between plates rely on sealant. Long-term use can easily cause aging, leading to rainwater leakage and odor overflow. Some simple models have no special waterproofing treatment, and water leakage from the roof or walls is likely to occur on rainy days.
- Limited fire resistance: Foam-core color-steel plates (excluding rock wool/glass wool core materials) are flammable materials. They are prone to burning when exposed to open flames and release toxic gases. They do not meet the requirements of high fire-protection scenarios (such as forest areas and chemical areas).
- Low texture and aesthetics: The appearance is mostly a single flat design, lacking decorative elements. In venues with high aesthetic requirements such as scenic spots and municipal squares, they can easily appear 'cheap and incongruous'.
In addition, as temporary facilities, mobile toilets have a high demand for the replacement of vulnerable parts such as door locks and flush valves under high-frequency use, and their durability may be lower than that of traditional brick-and-mortar toilets.
