How to Build a Toilet for a Mobile Home
The toilet for a mobile home can be constructed by modifying a water storage tank or barrel. The specific plans are as follows:

Plan 1: Modification Using a Water Storage Tank
Material Preparation
You will need a recycled water storage tank (recommended capacity ≥ 200L), plastic pallet, universal wheels, angle grinder, self-tapping screws, toilet, water pipes, faucet, sink, etc. The water storage tank should be made of corrosion-resistant material, and the plastic pallet should have a load-bearing capacity of ≥ 150kg.Construction Steps
- Basic Frame Construction: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the pallet to ensure mobility. Cut an opening at the top of the water storage tank to form the tank body, keeping the bottom as the water storage/drainage space.
- Structural Reinforcement: Stack two tank bodies and fix them with screws to enhance stability. Cut a rectangular doorway measuring 180cm × 50cm for easy access.
- Drainage System Installation: Cut a drainage opening on the internal floor, install a 45° elbow water pipe, and control the slope at 1%-3% to prevent water accumulation. Fix the toilet and seal its edges, preferably using anti-mold glass glue.
- Functional Component Assembly: Install a faucet, sink, and shower system. Wrap the water pipe connections with Teflon tape. Make a wooden door and install hinges to ensure tightness.
Plan 2: Modification Using a Water Storage Barrel
Material Preparation
You will need a water storage barrel (recommended capacity ≥ 150L), wooden board, universal wheels, angle grinder, wooden strips, plastic soft board, toilet, drainage pipe, etc. The water storage barrel should be made of non-toxic material, and the wooden board should be waterproofed.Construction Steps
- Barrel Body Processing: Split the water storage barrel in half to form a drainage pool at the bottom and a roof at the top. Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the wooden board to form a mobile base.
- Height and Wall Construction: Use wooden strips to increase the height of the barrel body to ≥ 180cm to meet space requirements. Cut a doorway on the side and install a door frame. Embed a plastic soft board to form the wall, and fix the soft board with rivets.
- Drainage and Sealing: Cut a drainage opening at the bottom and install a floor drain, with a slope of 1%-3%. Install a toilet, water tank, and bathroom heater system. The recommended toilet relocation distance is ≤ 40cm to avoid blockage.
- Detail Improvement: Make a simple door and complete the pipe connections. Seal all joints with glass glue. Cover the roof with a waterproof cloth to enhance rain resistance.
Key Considerations
- Drainage Slope: Reserve a slope of 1%-3% on the floor to ensure that sewage naturally flows to the drainage opening.
- Toilet Relocation: If relocation is required, the distance should be controlled within 40 centimeters. If this range is exceeded, a toilet mover should be used, and the pipe slope should be increased.
- Sealing Treatment: All pipe connections, toilet edges, and door frame gaps should be sealed with glass glue or waterproof tape to prevent leakage and odor diffusion.
- Ventilation Design: Install a small exhaust fan or reserve ventilation openings to prevent bacteria growth in humid environments.
